A launch ceremony of the quarterly e-magazine कृतिCanvas was organized by the Department of English Studies at Central University of Jharkhand, marking a significant step towards a digital revolution in the literary world, as well as a historic moment for the department. The program commenced with the traditional tilak ceremony and bouquet presentation. The Vice-Chancellor of the university, Prof. Ksh*ti Bhushan Das, graced the occasion as the chief guest. Along with him, Finance Officer Prof. Pradeep Kumar Panda, Head of the Department (Dr. Mayank Ranjan), Acting Dean (Prof. Sucheta Sen Choudhary), Head of the Hindi Department (Ratnesh Vishwaksen), and other professors from the department, including Dr. Ranjit Kumar, Dr. Sudhanshu Shekhar, Mr. Rachit Kumar, Dr. Mahima Kashyap, as well as professors from other departments and students were also present. The student Ayushi Muskan welcomed the guests, while seemran kandulna gave a speech, and Mahul Bhattacharyay and Aman Kumar shared their experiences.

The e-magazine was formally launched by the esteemed Vice-Chancellor. Student Ayushi Muskan shed light on the outline and objectives of the e-magazine. During the program, the Head of the Department, the Acting Dean, and the Hounarable Vice-Chancellor shared their thoughts. The Hounarable Vice-Chancellor emphasized the importance of writing, thinking, reading, and proficiency (practice makes a man professional). He congratulated the department on this achievement and praised the chosen name of the magazine, highlighting the meaning of कृतिCanvas — “canvas adds color to your mind and कृति means achievement.” He mentioned that the e-magazine provides a platform for students to publish their works online and reach a broader readership. He also shared his experience of reading the book Atomic Habits and spoke about the importance of writing. Additionally, he discussed communication, cultural connection, and the power of the pen, which has now transformed into the power of the tablet.

The Head of the Department commended the magazine team, encouraged them, and assured that in alignment with the provisions of the National Education Policy (NEP), sections in other regional languages will also be included in the Matribhasa section

The program concluded with a vote of thanks from Dr. Mahima Kashyap. Thus, the launch of कृतिCanvas e-magazine was successfully concluded, providing a new and enriched platform for the literary world. This initiative by the Department of English Studies was an inspiring experience for both students and teachers. The event was highly praised by all, with hopes for more such events in the future.

A Quotation Writing Competition was organised by the चितिChronicle Literary Society under the aegis of the Department of English Studies on August 9th to celebrate the National Books Lovers Day. The themes of the competition were:
1. Pages of Possibility: How Books Shape Us?
2. Inked: Imagining a Nurtured Life.
3. Cover to Cover: Infinite Lives in a Lifetime.
The event met with great enthusiasm. A total of 64 students from various departments(English studies, Life science and BA BEd) participated in this event. The participants got a chance to showcase their literary creativity and the submissions were intense and thought provoking.

A Wall magazine named “कथा-SCAPE” was published with its first series on 1st of August, 2024,Monday at 1:00 PM in the Department of English Studies.It was prepared by the students of Integrated BA and MA-SEM V and III under the guidance of Dr. Mahima Kashyap.
The magazine was unveiled by, Hon’ble professors Dr.shreya Bhattacharji, Dr. Mayank Ranjan, and Dr. Ratnesh Vishwakshen. All the respected professors Dr. Ranjit Kumar, Mr. Rachit Kumar, Dr. Pragya Shukla were also present at the moment.
The main Motto of our Wall Magazine is to depict various aspects of literature, The Department of English Studies intends to continue its tradition of literary creativity.
