BJP Sikkim Welcomes Newly Appointed Gangtok District and Mandal (Sangha) Committees
Gangtok, October 15th , 2025: A welcome and felicitation program to the newly appointed Gangtok District Committee and Mandal Committee (Sangha) was held today at the Bharatiya Janata Party ( BJP), Sikkim Party Office, Indira Bypass, Gangtok. The event was graced by the esteemed presence of State President Shri D.R. Thapa and Chief Advisor Shri Tseten Tashi Bhutia alongside party executives and new office bearers.
Addressing the gathering, State President Shri D.R. Thapa congratulated the newly appointed members and highlighted several welfare schemes initiated under the leadership of the Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi. He emphasized the importance of schemes such as Vidhya Laxmi—which provides easy access to education loans for students—and Ayushman Bharat, offering medical insurance coverage of ₹5 lakh, particularly for senior citizens aged 70 years and above.
Addressing the gathering, Chief Advisor Shri Tseten Tashi Bhutia expressed deep concern over the growing neglect of Buddhist sentiments under the current state government. Referring to a recent incident where a tattoo artist depicted Lord Chenrezig on a lower body part, Shri Bhutia questioned the silence of the state administration and the role of the Ecclesiastical Affairs Department, which holds a special mandate to safeguard religious sentiments in Sikkim.
He further remarked, “If those entrusted with the responsibility to protect our faith and culture fail to act, it is time they step aside and let others serve the community with sincerity and respect.” Shri Bhutia urged the government to uphold the sanctity of Buddhist values and traditions, which are integral to the cultural fabric of Sikkim.
Raising economic and governance concerns, he also drew attention to the rising debt burden of the state government and its long-term impact on future generations. He questioned why, despite being part of the NDA alliance, BJP supporters continue to face victimization in Sikkim.
The event concluded with the felicitation of all the newly appointed members of the Gangtok District Committee and Mandal Committee (Sangha), marking a renewed commitment toward strengthening the BJP organization at the grassroots level.
