Marking Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s historic milestone as India's longest-serving elected PM, BJP Sikkim State President D.R. Thapa, along with party workers, offered special prayers and lit 108 diyas at Chorten Monastery, Deorali today.
Simultaneous inter-faith prayer ceremonies were held across temples, monasteries, churches, and Mangkhims statewide for the PM's good health and longevity.
On the occasion, the party also rolled out a major district-wide public outreach campaign, distributing curated books highlighting 12 years of transformative governance, infrastructure growth, and social welfare under the Modi government.

GURAS Condemns Army Assault on Local Drivers at Zero Point; Demands Justice

The Gurung Association of Sikkim (GURAS) has strongly condemned the brutal physical assault on driver Anush Gurung and two others by a large group of Indian Army personnel at Zero Point, Lachung, North Sikkim on June 9, 2026.
Terming the behavior of the disciplined force as "unexpected and unacceptable road rage," the association questioned the breakdown of law and order in a democratic country. GURAS highlighted the critical role drivers play in Sikkim's tourism-driven economy and expressed deep concern over the safety of the minority community.
Standing in firm solidarity with the victims, GURAS has demanded an immediate investigation and swift justice from the authorities.
