𝗢𝗣𝗘𝗥𝗔𝗧𝗜𝗢𝗡 𝗝𝗘𝗘𝗩𝗔𝗡𝗗𝗔𝗡: 𝗡𝗢𝗧𝗢𝗥𝗜𝗢𝗨𝗦 𝗗𝗥𝗨𝗚 𝗣𝗘𝗗𝗗𝗟𝗘𝗥𝗦 𝗔𝗥𝗥𝗘𝗦𝗧𝗘𝗗, 𝗔𝗣𝗣𝗥𝗢𝗫 𝟭𝟭𝗚𝗠 𝗛𝗘𝗥𝗢𝗜𝗡 𝗥𝗘𝗖𝗢𝗩𝗘𝗥𝗘𝗗: 𝗥𝗘𝗔𝗦𝗜 𝗣𝗢𝗟𝗜𝗖𝗘
June 25, 2024 — Today, a police team from Police Station Katra successfully established a special checkpoint at Union Bridge, Dhirthi, Katra, leading to the apprehension of two suspects and the seizure of a significant quantity of narcotics.
At approximately 10:15 hours, a red and black motorcycle bearing registration number JK14J/9763 approached the checkpoint from Jammu towards Katra. Upon noticing the police presence, the rider and pillion passenger abandoned the motorcycle and attempted to flee the scene. Displaying quick thinking and determination, the police team initiated a pursuit and apprehended both individuals after a strenuous chase.
During the subsequent frisking and questioning, the rider identified himself as Ajay Singh, son of Rajinder Singh, a resident of Village Dadura, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi. A search of Ajay Singh revealed approximately 6.04 grams of a substance suspected to be he**in, concealed in a black polythene bag in the left front pocket of his jeans.
The pillion rider, who initially appeared disoriented, identified himself as Ajay Singh, son of Rattan Singh, from Village Kun-Kanyalan, Tehsil Katra, District Reasi. Upon frisking, the police discovered an additional 5.45 grams of a substance suspected to be he**in, stored in a transparent polythene bag in the left front pocket of his trousers.
Both suspects were taken into custody, and appropriate legal actions have been initiated in response to this significant drug seizure. This successful operation underscores the commitment of District Police Reasi to combating drug trafficking and ensuring the safety and security of the community.
The police team’s prompt and efficient response in this operation is commendable and reflects their dedication to maintaining law and order. Further investigation is ongoing to uncover any potential connections and broader implications of this incident.
On this case FIR No. 172/2024 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Katra and investigations started to unearth forward and backward linkages.
𝗦𝗦𝗣 𝗥𝗲𝗮𝘀𝗶 𝗠𝘀 𝗠𝗼𝗵𝗶𝘁𝗮 𝗦𝗵𝗮𝗿𝗺𝗮-𝗜𝗣𝗦 while sharing the details conveyed that Reasi Police is working on multipronged strategy to deal with the problem of drug abuse, on one hand awareness programs are being organized in every nook and corner of the district and on the other hand drug peddlers are being booked under PITNDPS Act on regular basis, whereas Reasi Police also started Anti Drug Helpline Number 9070907017 for general public where identity of caller will be kept secret.
