On the occasion of International Red Panda Day.

The Himalayan red panda (Ailurus fulgens fulgens) is one of the species which is endemic to the Himalaya (Glatston et al., 2015; Hu et al., 2020).

Despite their bright and red color appearance, Red Panda seems to have a great importance among the Himalayan culture and tradition. The has been elevated to the position of a sacred animal in the upper Himalayan regions (Devesh Kumar Personal communication, 2019). The red panda is one of the most attractive animals among the Himalayan . The people of regard red pandas to the reincarnation of Buddhist monks. It is the state animal of where its face reflects the symbol of the forest Department. A Himalayan animal like a red cat bear which has a high cultural and traditional importance adds an extra effort in motivation to conserve it. Survival of this Himalayan endangered species is threatened by an extraordinary rate of habitat loss due to various anthropogenic activities.

Perseverance 🐻

Lately I have been thinking about why Bear is my spirit animal. I got the answer when a few of my friends said you are persistent and that's the highest of all bear qualities.

Special thanks to  for scanning the mountains and spotting this Sao with 2 cubs for us🫶
I will never forget when you said 'Bhaalu'🐻
I will always remember the joy and excitement you had Mahesh Bhai when you spotted them🥹
Thanks .pugmark.homestay for accommodating your amazing homestay and delicious homemade food.

The pleasant cold of the early morning started to warm up slowly. The sun has not shone for the last two days, which has increased the cold and dampness in the valley. The only traveled small distances, while being soaked in the rain for two days. Today, they rejoice.

These tall pine trees receive the first in the Mandal valley. The Pine trees, and the Langurs, glow up in the warmth and the bright yellow, as the valley behind them wakes up slowly to the din of a sunny day. Slowly, the sun comes up from behind the mountains, and the Langurs move to top canopies to bask in the sunrays. They take the best seats to gaze and cherish the waking up of a valley and the magnificent views of this landscape."

The Himalaya Mountains are surrounded by the Indus in the west and the Brahmaputra in the east. The Himalayas have been protecting India from the north over a long period of time, supporting a huge biodiversity.

Happy Himalaya day!

Kaziranga - a land where raptors glide over the sky while the giants of the forests make their presence felt in every step you take on the land.

It was nearly the sunset time when usually, activities of Raptors tend to decrease. But when we say, mother nature is unpredictable, it's an infallible statement to be honest. As I saw a Grey Headed fish Eagle flying over our gypsy with a big fish darted within its talons, I could predict where it would sit with it. They can fly for long with such a huge kill. Patted the back of our driver and finally reached beneath the big tree where it sat while the setting sun had its bokeh through the forest greens behind. A serendipitous encounter and game of prediction that I can never forget.
