"ABK's Public Notice Is a Power Grab, Not a Unifying Decree"- Bigam Pertin

Adi Baane Kebangs audacious public notice of September 23, 2025, reeks of colonial arrogance, dismissing legitimate student, youth, and literary bodies as "self-styled" pretenders while clinging to a patriarchal throne. This erasure, dripping with insecurity, mocks the unity ABK professes to uphold. As a lifetime ABK member since July 9, 2019, I, Bigam Pertin, on behalf of the vibrant Adi community, fiercely denounce this decree.
This isn’t just about a public notice; it's about a betrayal of trust. ABK’s hollow claim to lead Adis crumbles under its own treachery—endorsing the PFR Survey for the Siang Dam without consulting 99% of the community. This decision, which has ignited unrest across three Siang districts, endangers Siang culture itself. ABK has abandoned Adi voices and protests amid curtailed freedoms and a palpable fear induced by the presence of Central Armed Police Forces in siang region.
Independent bodies like AdiSU, ACLS, and AAK must beware—aligning with ABK risks the same permanent PFR-stained disgrace. The Adi society will honor Adi-centric organizations serving its true interests. Thus, SIFF, AdiSU, AAYA, AWS, AABGBWA, and others are urged to rise boldly—knowing the majority stands with you.

BJP OFFICE SET ON FIRE
Protesters in Leh demanding statehood for Ladakh.

Leh BJP Office Set Ablaze Amid Violent Protests for Statehood
LEH, LADAKH – September 24, 2025 – Violent clashes have erupted in Leh, the capital of Ladakh, as a long-running protest for statehood and inclusion under the Sixth Schedule of the Constitution turned violent today. The agitation, led by activist Sonam Wangchuk and local civil society groups, escalated with reports of protesters storming and setting fire to the local Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) office.
The unrest comes amid a renewed push for greater autonomy and political representation for the region. According to preliminary reports, the protestors, a coalition of religious, social, and political organizations known as the Leh Apex Body (LAB), were protesting outside the BJP office to register their discontent over what they call a lack of "result-oriented" talks with the central government.
The situation reportedly turned chaotic when police attempted to disperse the crowd, leading to stone-pelting and confrontations. In the ensuing violence, the BJP office was set on fire, and a security vehicle belonging to the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) was also torched.
Protest organizers have consistently raised concerns that since Ladakh was designated as a Union Territory in 2019 without a legislative assembly, the region lacks an elected representative who can effectively advocate for the local populace. The ongoing agitation is seen by many as a "test of the BJP's credibility" ahead of the upcoming elections for the Leh Autonomous Hill Development Council (LAHDC) in October.
The incident has drawn condemnation from various quarters. While local authorities have deployed additional forces to restore order, there has been no official statement from the police on the cause of the violence. The protest leaders are scheduled to hold negotiations with the Home Ministry in October, and today's events are likely to cast a long shadow on these upcoming talks.
