Long time no see!

I started the page & the blog 7 years back when I realized that we had no info on what students were doing after graduation, the choices they made and their motivation.

So I took it upon myself to cover some profiles from the circle I knew, people who had changed tracks, or found new love in different fields. The result was 12 beautiful career stories, along with some much-loved faculty interviews too.

And six years after the last post, I am posting the final career story on this page. I really wanted to end the blog with this story, and it took me some time for that. Well, it's here now!

Kamal Sharma graduated with B.Tech in Civil Engineering in 2010. Here, in the final interview in the series, he talks about his experience at IITR, how he changed tracks from Civil Engineering to a doctorate in Physics, and what advice does he have for current and recently graduated students.

Kamal is currently a postdoc at the Texas Tech University

11 years after my own graduation, times have changed - we now have so much info at our disposal, from WhatsApp groups of batches to updated LinkedIn profiles.

So it's time for me to put an end to the blog and move on with life. I had a great time curating these stories, and I hope the posts were useful to the readers.

I wish you all very good lives

Manas

In the wake of Sushant Singh Rajput's demise, here is something I posted nearly five years back. Give it a read.

The more I read about SSR and watch his videos, I realize what a great guy he was. An actor mainly, but he nurtured himself through physics, astronomy, dancing, etc etc. Hard to find a man like this.

To each one of you - take care.

Watch Out! News Agency has done a relevant series on the political reforms in the institute and in the Student Affairs Council. We request you to give it a read.

We would also like to request all the current students to get some information about the candidates standing for different posts and to read their manifestos, if they have come out with one.

It is extremely important that you take an interest and try to get some information about the candidates who will be contesting tomorrow in the elections.

We hope you'd send good people to the council. All the Best.

A new class has entered the institute and we would like to welcome it. Welcome, Class of 2019/Class of 2020.

Meanwhile, we would also like to say something to the (now) sophomore, junior and senior students.

Since the institute does not have a formal Student Mentorship Programme (as far as we know), we would like to make a request to the sophomores (II Year students): If you come across any freshman who wants to know more about GPA, courses, curriculum, internships, placements or about any such academic and curricular stuff, please divert them to your seniors (III Year and IV/V year students).

This is because we think, as sophomores, you do not have enough experience to guide the freshman students about academic matters. But, we hope, you would not mind guiding them towards the other equally interesting extra-curricular activities and stuff.

Good Luck to all of you for a new academic year.

"I have never appeared for the IIT joint entrance exam (IIT-JEE) and have no regrets for not doing so. But I have ‘coached’ several hundred students to crack the test—among them 333 poor and meritorious students mentored under my Super 30 programme. Many of them keep in touch with me, reach out for guidance, and that’s how I have some idea about the IITs. And I am worried", writes Anand Kumar for Outlook, July issue.

Read it on to find what he has to say.
