Police arrests 02 drug peddlers in Baramulla; Contraband substance recovered
June 08:Continuing its unwavering efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Police in Baramulla have arrested two drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
A police party from Police Station Tangmarg headed by SHO PS Tangmarg, at a checkpoint established at Tangmarg intercepted a vehicle (Alto) bearing registration number JK04E-1076 with two persons on board. During search, 09 grams of heroin-like substance were recovered from their possession. They have been identified as Zahid Ahmad Mir son of Ghulam Hassan Mir resident of Chanapora and Mudasir Ahmad Lone son of Abdul Ahad Lone resident of Treran. Both accused have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of the crime has also been seized.

In a major crackdown on arms smuggling networks, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force, Punjab (ANTF), Border Range, Amritsar arrests 3 associates of Jugraj Singh with 6 sophisticated foreign-made weapons smuggled from across the border.
Preliminary investigation reveals, Kingpin Jugraj Singh, currently lodged in Goindwal Jail, operated the racket through his advocate’s Munshi.

6-yr-old boy dies in Parigam, Pulwama accident
Srinagar: A six-year-old boy lost his life after he was hit by an unknown vehicle in South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Saturday evening.
An official told that an accident took place at village Parigam when a six-year-old boy was hit by an unknown Santro vehicle.
He said the boy identified as Azaan Irshad, son of Irshad Lone, resident of Parigam received serious injuries in the incident following which he was rushed to SDH Chatergam in critical condition where doctors declared him brought dead.
Meanwhile, police have taken cognizance and started an investigation in this regard

CM Omar Abdullah extends Eid-ul-Azha greetings.
SRINAGAR:- Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today extended warm greetings to the people of Jammu and Kashmir on the auspicious occasion of Eid-ul-Azha, wishing them peace, well-being and prosperity.
In his message on the eve of Eid-ul-Azha, the Chief Minister said the holy occasion imbibes in us the spirit of making honesty, truthfulness and selflessness a way of life.
He added that the festival commemorates the timeless example of absolute faith and unwavering obedience set by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and his devoted son Prophet Ismail (AS).
“Eid-ul-Azha is not only a celebration of faith but also a reminder of the profound sacrifice and complete submission to the will of Almighty. The unwavering trust shown by Prophet Ibrahim (AS) and the willing obedience of Prophet Ismail (AS) teach us the essence of selflessness, devotion and steadfastness in the face of trials,” Omar Abdullah said.
He expressed hope that this auspicious occasion will further strengthen the bonds of communal harmony, mutual brotherhood, amity and tranquility across the region.
The Chief Minister also prayed for sustained peace, harmony and progress in Jammu and Kashmir.
