*SAMBA POLICE ARRESTS 02 DRUG PEDDLERS WITH 7.26 GRAMS HE**IN LIKE SUBSTANCE*

Samba: June 05, 2026: Continuing its drive against drug smugglers & peddlers in the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, Samba Police has arrested two drug peddlers in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur and recovered approximately 7.26 grams heroin-like substance (chitta) from their possession.

Acting on information received from reliable sources, a team of Police Station Vijaypur, intercepted two pedestrians who were coming from Rakh Barotain and moving towards AIIMS Vijaypur under suspicious circumstances. During frisking, approximately 7.26 grams of heroin-like substance (chitta) was recovered from their possession.

The drug peddlers identified as Baber Ahmed Payer S/o Abdul Khaliq Payer R/o Maigah Naaghata tehsil & district Kupwara and Mohd. Abid S/o Mohd. Asgar R/o Manigah Glassdiji tehsil & district Kupwara have been arrested and the contraband item has also been seized.

A case FIR No 92/2026 U/S 8/21/22 NDPS Act has been registered at PS Vijaypur and investigation started.

Samba: June 7, 2026: Intensifying its drive against drug smugglers/peddlers in the ongoing Nasha Mukt Abhiyan, Samba Police has arrested a drug peddler in the jurisdiction of Police Station Vijaypur and recovered approximately 4.50 grams heroin-like substance (Chitta) from his possession.

A team of Police Station Vijaypur during vehicle checking at Naka AIIMS Vijaypur, intercepted an Baleno car bearing regd. No JK15C-5163 which was coming from Samba side. During checking, approximately 4.50 grams of heroin-like substance (Chitta) was recovered from the possession of driver of the said vehicle.

The drug peddler identified as Bilal Ahmed Sheikh S/o Abdul Rashid Sheikh R/o Battoo Mohalla tehsil and district Bandipora has been arrested. The contraband item along with vehicle has been seized.

A case FIR No. 94/2026 U/S 8/21/22/25 NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Vijaypur and investigation started.

*REASI POLICE REGISTERS FIVE FIRs AGAINST PONY HANDLERS FOR OPERATING WITHOUT VALID REGISTRATION CARDS*

*REASI, June 06, 2026:* In a continued drive to ensure strict compliance with regulatory guidelines and maintain proper records of pony operations in the district, Reasi Police has registered five separate FIRs against pony handlers found operating without valid registration cards.

During routine inspections and verification drives, the following individuals were found violating the prescribed regulations by operating ponies without the mandatory registration documents against whom the FIR has been registered as mentioned below :

1. FIR No. 172/2026 under Section 223(a) BNS registered against Yassir Arafat S/o Amir Hussain R/o Saldhar, Tehsil Mahore, District Reasi.

2. FIR No. 173/2026 under Section 223(a) BNS registered against Imam Shah S/o Rehmat Ali R/o Saldhar, Tehsil Mahore, District Reasi.

3. FIR No. 174/2026 under Section 223(a) BNS registered against Mohd. Altaf S/o Abdul Gani R/o Bathoie, Tehsil Mahore, District Reasi.

4. FIR No. 175/2026 under Section 223(a) BNS registered against Rashpal Singh S/o Romal Singh R/o Kherikote, Tehsil Reasi, District Reasi.

5. FIR No. 176/2026 under Section 223(a) BNS registered against Sonu S/o Munshi R/o Chourakote, Tehsil Reasi, District Reasi.

Reasi Police has reiterated that all pony handlers and service providers engaged in pony operations must possess valid registration cards and comply with the rules and regulations laid down by the competent authorities. Strict legal action shall continue against violators to ensure safety, accountability, and proper management of pony services in the district.

The public and all stakeholders are advised to adhere to the prescribed norms and cooperate with law enforcement agencies in maintaining order and regulatory compliance.

सांबा, 5 जून: आर्मी पब्लिक स्कूल, सांबा में यूथ फॉर सोसाइटी (YFS) के सहयोग से नशा विरोधी जागरूकता कार्यक्रम आयोजित किया गया। कार्यक्रम के मुख्य अतिथि अतिरिक्त पुलिस अधीक्षक (Addl. SP) घारू राम भारद्वाज थे।

कार्यक्रम में अतिरिक्त पुलिस अधीक्षक घारू राम भारद्वाज, अधिवक्ता देविंदर सिंह तथा यूथ फॉर सोसाइटी के अध्यक्ष अधिवक्ता राहुल साम्ब्याल ने छात्रों को संबोधित किया। स्कूल के विद्यार्थियों ने नशे की विभिन्न अवस्थाओं, इसके दुष्प्रभावों तथा नशे से होने वाली गंभीर बीमारियों और मृत्यु तक के खतरों पर प्रभावशाली प्रस्तुतियां दीं।

अधिवक्ता देविंदर सिंह ने कहा कि जो युवा नशे की गिरफ्त में आ जाते हैं, वे अक्सर अपराध की ओर बढ़ जाते हैं और अपना भविष्य बर्बाद कर लेते हैं। उन्होंने छात्रों से नशे से दूर रहने और पढ़ाई पर ध्यान देने की अपील की।

यूथ फॉर सोसाइटी के अध्यक्ष अधिवक्ता राहुल साम्ब्याल ने कहा कि नशा आज समाज के लिए एक बड़ी चुनौती बन चुका है। उन्होंने बताया कि उनकी संस्था वर्ष 2014 से लगातार नशा विरोधी जागरूकता अभियान चला रही है। उन्होंने कहा कि नशे की समस्या से निपटने के लिए अभिभावकों, शिक्षकों और समाज के सभी वर्गों को मिलकर काम करना होगा। उन्होंने नशा तस्करों के खिलाफ सख्त कार्रवाई के लिए उपराज्यपाल प्रशासन की सराहना भी की। उन्होंने बताया कि यूथ फॉर सोसाइटी की सामाजिक पहलों को ज़ी मीडिया नेटवर्क द्वारा दो बार प्रसारित किया जा चुका है।

अपने संबोधन में अतिरिक्त पुलिस अधीक्षक घारू राम भारद्वाज ने छात्रों और शिक्षकों को बताया कि नशीले पदार्थ व्यक्ति के दिमाग और सोचने-समझने की क्षमता पर बुरा प्रभाव डालते हैं तथा धीरे-धीरे उसे नशे का आदी बना देते हैं। उन्होंने छात्रों के सवालों के जवाब भी दिए और सभी को नशा मुक्त समाज बनाने की शपथ दिलाई।

कार्यक्रम के अंत में स्कूल के प्रधानाचार्य ने सभी अतिथियों का धन्यवाद किया। इस अवसर पर सरपंच अश्विनी साम्ब्याल और विकास डोगरा (सनातन धर्म सभा) सहित अन्य गणमान्य लोग भी उपस्थित थे।

सुम्ब: Ex कैप्टन रनवीर सिंह जी ने पिछले दिनों सोशल मीडिया पर वायरल हुई एक वीडियो को लेकर खेद व्यक्त किया है। उन्होंने कहा कि ऐसी वीडियो साझा नहीं की जानी चाहिए थी और यदि इससे किसी की भावनाएं आहत हुई हैं तो इसके लिए वे क्षमा प्रार्थी हैं।
उन्होंने सभी लोगों से अपील करते हुए कहा कि सोशल मीडिया का उपयोग जिम्मेदारी और समझदारी के साथ किया जाना चाहिए तथा किसी भी सामग्री को साझा करने से पहले उसके प्रभाव के बारे में अवश्य सोचना चाहिए।

Samba District Observes World Environment Day 2026; Over 1,045 Saplings Planted in a Single Day

SAMBA, JUNE 5: In a remarkable demonstration of environmental stewardship and collective civic responsibility, Samba district celebrated World Environment Day 2026 with a massive district-wide plantation campaign, resulting in the plantation of over 1,045 saplings across public spaces, government institutions, educational establishments, municipal areas, and panchayats.

The campaign was conducted under the dynamic guidance and visionary leadership of Deputy Commissioner Samba, Ms. Ayushi Sudan, whose commitment to environmental conservation inspired widespread participation from officials, employees, and citizens across the district.

The celebrations commenced at the historic Samba Fort, where a plantation drive was organised by the Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council Samba, Mr. Jodh Raj. On the occasion, Additional District Development Commissioner, Ms. Champa Devi, JKAS, planted saplings and urged citizens to embrace tree plantation as both a civic duty and a moral responsibility towards future generations. She remarked that every sapling planted today represents a seed of hope for a cleaner, greener, and more sustainable tomorrow.

Simultaneously, a plantation drive was organised at the Block Development Office, Samba, under the leadership of Block Development Officer, Mr. Saqib Sharief Khan, JKAS. Assistant Commissioner Development, Samba, Mr. Rafiq Ahmad Jaral, JKAS, participated in the programme and planted saplings while delivering a strong message on environmental protection. He called upon citizens to preserve natural resources, reduce plastic consumption, maintain cleanliness in their surroundings, and actively contribute to combating the growing menace of drug abuse. Drawing a meaningful connection between environmental and social well-being, he observed that a healthy environment is fundamental to building a healthy society.

Another major plantation programme was held within the Deputy Commissioner’s Office Complex, organised under the aegis of Divisional Forest Officer, Samba, Mr. Shahzad Choudhary. A variety of ornamental, shade-bearing, and fruit-bearing saplings were planted, reflecting the district administration’s resolve to strengthen and sustain the green cover of the district.

The plantation campaign extended across all municipal areas, panchayats, educational institutions, and government offices. According to details furnished by the Assistant Commissioner Development, Samba, plantation activities were conducted in nearly every panchayat and village, with Panchayat Secretaries and field functionaries ensuring extensive grassroots participation.

In another significant initiative, Block Development Officer, Bari Brahmana, Ms. Parul Khajuria, JKAS, organised a dedicated plantation drive within her jurisdiction. The programme witnessed enthusiastic participation from officials, employees, and local residents. Assistant Commissioner Development, Samba, Mr. Rafiq Ahmad Jaral, JKAS, attended the event and planted saplings, reiterating the importance of environmental conservation and sustainable practices in everyday life.
With more than 1,045 saplings planted in a single day, Samba district recorded a notable achievement, reaffirming the administration’s commitment to building a greener, cleaner, and more climate-resilient future.

Through collective resolve and coordinated action, the district administration and the people of Samba transformed World Environment Day 2026 into a meaningful exercise in environmental citizenship, laying the foundation for a lasting green legacy for generations to come.

*SAMBA POLICE OBSERVES WORLD ENVIRONMENT DAY 2026 WITH DISTRICT-WIDE PLANTATION DRIVE*

Samba: June 05, 2026: On the occasion of World Environment Day 2026, Samba Police organized a plantation drive across various police establishments in the district as part of its commitment towards environmental conservation and the promotion of a greener and healthier ecosystem.

The plantation drive at the District Police Office (DPO) Samba was led by the Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) Samba which witnessed active participation from the Addl. SP Samba and officers/ officials of DPO Samba, who planted saplings within the office premises and reaffirmed their commitment towards environmental protection.

Simultaneously, plantation drives were carried out at all subordinate police units across the district, including Police Stations, Police Posts, Border Police Posts and District Police Lines. Police officers and personnel enthusiastically participated in the initiative by planting a large number of saplings at their respective establishments and surrounding areas.

Speaking on the occasion, SSP Samba emphasized the vital role of trees in maintaining ecological balance, mitigating the adverse effects of climate change and ensuring a sustainable future for coming generations. He urged all ranks of the Samba Police as well as members of the public to actively contribute towards environmental conservation through regular plantation activities and responsible environmental practices.
