*Historic day in the history of JKHCBAJ, gets formally registered after 99 years of its establishment.*

A significant and historic function was held today at the Bar Hall of the Jammu Wing of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh by the J&K High Court Bar Association (Regd.), Jammu.

On the occasion, the office bearers of the Association apprised the members of the association that the Bar Association has now been formally registered with the Registrar of Societies. This milestone marks a historic moment, coming after 99 years since the establishment of the Jammu & Kashmir High Court Bar Association. Over the decades, the Association has emerged as a strong and unwavering voice, consistently standing up for and safeguarding the interests of the legal fraternity of Jammu & Kashmir, and advocating for the people of the Jammu province.

The registration certificate was formally handed over to the office bearers of the Association by Smt. Neelam Khajuria, Joint Director, Registrar of Societies, Jammu, in the august presence of the Hon’ble Chief Justice Sh. Arun Palli, alongwith companion Judges of the High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh including Justice Sindhu Sharma, Justice Rajneesh Oswal, Justice Rahul Bharti, Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi, Justice Rajesh Sekhri, Justice Mohd. Yusaf Wani and Justice Shahzad Azeem.

The atmosphere during the event was marked by pride and collective satisfaction, as members acknowledged the importance of this development in strengthening the institutional framework of the Bar and furthering its legacy of service and representation.

The function witnessed an overwhelming participation of members of the Bar, including both senior and young advocates. The gathering, in one voice, appreciated the dedicated efforts of the Bar Association and its office bearers including President K. Nirmal Kotwal, Vice President S. *ANOTHER FIR FOR DRIVING WITHOUT FITNESS CERTIFICATE AND OVERLOADING*

Traffic Police Rural Jammu, in its continued drive against overloading and violation of fitness norms, today lodged another FIR at Rajouri against driver of a Bus bearing Registration No. JK02DJ-8844.

Briefly stated, on 05.05.2026, SO Traffic Rajouri during routine checking near Government Degree College Rajouri intercepted a Bus bearing Registration No. JK02DJ-8844 which was on its way from Karhad to Rajouri. During checking, the vehicle driven by one Tahir Hussain S/O Zakir Hussain R/O Karhad Rajouri, was found overloaded with 13 excess passengers (46 as against approved 33) thereby posing a serious threat to the safety of passengers and increasing the likelihood of accidents.

Further verification revealed that the vehicle has a dubious history of having been challaned 36 times in last 3 years out of which 25 challans remain pending till date. Moreover, the Bus was also plying without Fitness Certificate which has since expired. Notably, the vehicle was also challaned on 29.04.2026 for operating with an expired Fitness Certificate, however, the driver/owner continued to ply the vehicle thereby endangering human lives. Accordingly, FIR No. 225/2026 U/S 281/125 BNS 56/192/184/194 MV Act has been registered against the driver at Police Station Rajouri. This is third such FIR lodged for similar offences in past one week, the other two registered each at PS Surankote and Billawar.

Senior Superintendent of Police (Traffic) Rural Jammu Farooq Qaiser stated that the matter will be taken up with the concerned authorities for cancellation of the Registration Certificate of the vehicle as well as the Driving License of the driver involved. He further urged all vehicle owners and drivers to ensure strict compliance with the MV Act/Rules warning that stringent action will continue against the violators.
