Cyberabad police track 35 Instagram, YouTube accounts; Five held in T-Hub bike stunt crackdown
The DCP also said many riders recorded videos of their acts and uploaded them on social media platforms, attracting more youngsters and encouraging similar unlawful activitiesHyderabad: In a major crackdown on dangerous bike stunts and illegal racing in the IT corridor, Raidurgam Police have identified 35 Instagram and YouTube accounts allegedly promoting reckless riding near T-Hub.
Five youngsters were apprehended and their motorcycles seized after police launched a special drive against those performing and glorifying bike stunts on public roads.
T-Hub area turns hotspot for stunt riding
Disclosing the details Cyberabad DCP (Madhapur Zone) Rithiraj said groups of bikers had been frequently gathering in and around the T-Hub area under Raidurgam police station limits to perform dangerous stunts and race on public roads. Their actions caused inconvenience and panic among commuters, residents and visitors in the busy IT corridor.
The DCP also said many riders recorded videos of their acts and uploaded them on social media platforms, attracting more youngsters and encouraging similar unlawful activities.During the special enforcement drive, police tracked 35 social media accounts linked to stunt riding and illegal racing. Five individuals were apprehended and their motorcycles seized.
Cases were registered and the vehicles were produced before the court as per legal procedures.
Police said some riders had also attempted to evade vehicle checks and obstruct police personnel while they were performing their duties.
Stringent laws invoked
The accused have been booked under various provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), Motor Vehicles Act and Information Technology Act. Police said offences such as dangerous driving, illegal racing, causing public nuisance and obstructing public servants attract stringent punishment.
The IT Act may also be invoked where social media posts are found to promote or encourage such activities.Rithiraj appealed to parents to monitor their children's activities and discourage them from chasing online fame through dangerous stunts.
Citizens, resident welfare associations and commuters have been urged to report instances of illegal racing and stunt riding through Dial-100 or the Cyberabad Police helpline.
Advising youngsters to channel their passion for speed into authorised racing tracks and motorsport events, the DCP said, "Real courage lies in responsibility, not recklessness. Together, we can make our roads safer for everyone."
