A software engineer lost his life in a tragic road accident on Friday morning at Iruvaram Cross on the outskirts of Chittoor along the Chittoor–Bengaluru National Highway. The incident occurred when a container being transported on a lorry reportedly fell onto his car, crushing the vehicle and killing him on the spot.
According to preliminary reports, the victim was traveling along the busy highway when the container, allegedly not secured properly, slipped off the heavy vehicle. The sudden and catastrophic impact left no chance for survival. Local residents and passersby rushed to the scene and alerted the police, who arrived promptly and began an investigation.
The accident caused significant traffic disruption on the highway, with vehicles stranded for several hours as authorities worked to clear the wreckage. Police officials are examining CCTV footage from the area and questioning the lorry driver to determine whether negligence, overloading, or improper fastening of the container led to the tragedy.
This incident has once again highlighted the urgent need for stricter enforcement of safety regulations for heavy vehicles, especially on national highways that witness high-speed traffic. Experts have long emphasized regular vehicle inspections, proper securing of cargo, and adherence to load limits to prevent such devastating accidents.
As investigations continue, the tragedy serves as a grim reminder of the importance of road safety measures and responsible transport practices to protect lives.
