Smti Yaso Bagang is around 80 years old and was allegedly robbed near the โ€˜I Love Itanagarโ€™ landmark at Niti Vihar, Itanagar at around 5:00 PM to 6: PM on September 10.

According to the complaint, the miscreant approached the victim by pretending to be a worker of Hawa Bagang, claiming that Hawa Bagang was distributing money to his relatives.

He insisted that victim accompany him to Hawa Bagangโ€™s residence. However, on the way near the โ€˜I Love Itanagarโ€™ spot, he suddenly snatched โ‚น5,500 in cash from her and fled.

The victim, left shaken by the incident, initially could not identify the accused but described him as a young man, approximately 30โ€“40 years old, wearing brown trousers.

Later, the victimโ€™s family stated that they had checked CCTV footage and identified the accused. Before pressing for any action, the family has requested the accused to voluntarily come forward andapologize to the victim within two to three days.

Meanwhile, a case has been registered at the Near police Station, and further investigation is under.

An FIR was received on 02/11/2024 from Smti. XYZ, mother of the victim girl, regarding the r**e and murder of her 9-year-old daughter by the accused Sangachi Sidasow (stepfather). Accordingly, a case was registered at WPS Seppa vide SPA/WPS/C/No. 24/2024 U/S 65(2)/103(1) BNS 2023 R/W Sec 6 of POCSO Act, and the investigation was taken up by Lady Inspector Wiphang Pokna, OC WPS Seppa under the close supervision of SP East Kameng Kamdam Sikom, APPS.

During the investigation, the accused Sangachi Sidasow was arrested. The available witnesses were examined, and their statements revealed that the accused had r**ed the deceased, who expired a few days thereafter. On 08/11/2024, the dead body of the victim girl was exhumed after 16 days of burial and a Post-Mortem Examination (PME) was conducted by a board of doctors. After completion of all legal formalities, the case was charge-sheeted vide SPA/WPS/CS No. 11/2024 U/S 65(2) BNS 2023 R/W Sec 6 of POCSO Act dated 20/12/2024.

Subsequently, the Honโ€™ble Special Judge (POCSO), Bomdila pronounced judgment on 20/08/2025 within 8 months, convicting the accused Sangachi Sidasow and sentencing him to Rigorous Imprisonment for 22 years along with a fine of โ‚น10,000/-,in default, he shall further suffer a period of one year.

Further, SP East Kameng, Kamdam Sikom, appreciated the work done by the Investigation Officer and the valuable assistance provided by Special Public Prosecutor Adv. Atum Lamnio, which ensured speedy justice for the victimโ€™s family members.
