A recent study published in the peer-reviewed journal JAMA Network Open revealed that the prevalence of malnourished children in India, who have not consumed any food in 24 hours, is comparable to rates seen in West African nations like Guinea, Benin, Liberia, and Mali. Conducted by researchers from the Harvard T.H. Chan School of Public Health, the study found that the prevalence of "zero-food children" can be as high as 21% in some countries. India accounted for the largest number of such children, with 6.7 million affected, representing nearly half of all zero-food children among the 92 countries included in the study.
