This image captures the impressive cast of the 1970 kitchen sink drama Spring and Port Wine. Based on Bill Naughton's play, the film stars James Mason as the strict patriarch Rafe Crompton, struggling with the changing social mores of 1970s Britain.

The cast includes Rodney Bewes (of The Likely Lads fame), Susan George, and Hannah Gordon. Interestingly, the young son was played by Len Jones, whose voice was already famous to millions of children as the genius boy spy in Gerry Anderson's Joe 90 (1968).

Filmed on location in Bolton, the movie remains a poignant time capsule of Northern English life in the late sixties.
