: Vidarshan Buddha Vihara Inaugurated at Kokila, Promoting Peace and Cultural Harmony
Kokila, Arunachal Pradesh: Chowna Mein, Deputy Chief Minister of Arunachal Pradesh, inaugurated the Vidarshan Buddha Vihara at Kokila today in the presence of Hon’ble MLAs Nabam Vivek and Chau Zingnu Namchoom. The occasion witnessed a warm and heartfelt welcome from the local community, public leaders, and district administration.
Speaking on the occasion, Mein expressed gratitude for being part of the sacred event and highlighted Arunachal Pradesh’s rich Buddhist heritage. He noted that the state is home to diverse Buddhist traditions—ranging from Mahayana and Vajrayana in the western and northern regions to Theravada practices in the eastern belt—yet all are united by the core values of peace, compassion, and harmony.
Referring to the teachings of Gautama Buddha, the Deputy Chief Minister emphasized the importance of coexistence, non-violence, and compassion in today’s world marked by conflict and uncertainty. He also underscored the significance of *Dana* (generosity), stating that true merit lies in selfless service and collective goodwill.
Highlighting the broader role of religious institutions, Mein said that a Vihara is not merely a place of worship but a vital centre for learning, discipline, and cultural preservation. Such institutions play a crucial role in guiding the younger generation and sustaining age-old traditions.
He commended the local community for its dedication to preserving cultural and spiritual heritage and reaffirmed the government’s commitment to supporting initiatives related to infrastructure development, cultural promotion, and community welfare.
The newly inaugurated Vidarshan Buddha Vihara is expected to serve as a beacon of peace, unity, and spiritual growth for generations to come.
