Is Himachal Pradesh safe to travel now?

There is a lot of Information and videos on social media about landslides, cloud bursts, floods in Himachal Pradesh. This year has so many such incidents compared to previous years.

It is true it's happening in so many places. I know everyone wants to hear a positive answer. But my answer is mixed. I have been vlogging in Himachal for the past 4 months. I myself have seen landslides in front of my eyes so many times. I have seen millions of huge boulders lying on the sides of the roads which did scare me. But it doesn't just happen everywhere in Himachal Pradesh. Only a few types of mountains cause landslides. Especially Kinnaur area. The local people still need to travel places. Landslides and shooting stones or floods aren't going to stop them from travelling. But they are patient and careful in approaching such incidents. Sometimes they even have to wait for months together to get to their homes and they mostly are okay with it.

So, the main thing to think about when you are travelling in Himachal Pradesh is to practice patience. Come here during the best months if you want to save days. If you do come during the months of monsoon or other extreme climates, then plan for a long trip. Wait in safe zones and move on when the roads are safe to travel. Don't be in a rush to get some where. Drive very carefully and do have an eye on the mountains as well. Take timely decisions. Most of all, listen to the local drivers and people. They know these mountains and roads better. That is how it is done.

Cheers! Happy Travelling!

is located at an altitude of 3132m. The trek starts from Jalori Pass to the Saryolsar Lake. The distance of the trek is approximately 6Km to the lake. The whole path way is covered in dense Oak and Alpine trees and is considered moderately easy to walk. The beauty of the forest and the Lake is well worth the effort. There are very few shops and dhabas with very few goods at Jalori Pass and on the way to the lake. There are a few shops near the lake as well. You can also hire tents if you want to spend the night there. Beware of Insects and huge leeches! Overall it's an out of the world experience!

Sharchi is a Gram Panchayat located in the Banjar Tehsil of Kullu District . A 15 km road from Gushaini takes you to Sharchi via Bandal. I borrowed my friend's bike to enjoy the beautiful roads towards Sharchi.

I loved the stone walled architecture of Sharchi. It's clean and green and people there have the warmest hearts. It's a peaceful village tucked away in the mountains away from the hustles and bustles of the cities.

Choi (Chhoie) Waterfall in Tirthan Valley can be reached through a short trek of a 3 km walk that begins from Village Nagini which takes about 1 hour. The waterfall is named after the local deity Chhoi Mata and locals come to worship the goddess at one of the trees near the waterfall. The waterfall is just so beautiful and the water is fresh and pure.
