The protest was organised along the stretch from Capital Point to Medical Road, where participants highlighted the poor condition of one of the town's busiest roads. Protesters claimed that broken roads and large potholes have been causing daily hardship for commuters, patients travelling to hospitals, students and motorists.

Cachar Police have arrested one person and seized a large quantity of suspected fake gold during a raid in Silchar’s Alambagh area.

Acting on specific intelligence, a team of Cachar Police conducted an operation in Alambagh on Friday (July 10), where they recovered 112 pieces of suspected fake gold weighing a total of 7.023 kg. The seized items have been taken into police custody for further investigation.

Nine people, including seven passengers and two auto-rickshaw drivers, were injured in a head-on collision between two auto-rickshaws at Lakshmipur in Kalain, Cachar, on Friday (July 10).

The accident took place on National Highway 6 when the two vehicles reportedly collided head-on. Among the injured are two schoolgirls. All the injured were rescued and admitted to Kalain Government Hospital, where they are receiving treatment. Their current condition is yet to be officially confirmed.
