Tech giant Meta, owned by Mark Zuckerberg, has unveiled new subscription-based plans for its popular platforms Facebook, Instagram and WhatsApp.
The services, named Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus and WhatsApp Plus, were announced by Meta’s head of product Naomi Gleit through a video shared on Instagram.
"Hey everyone, exciting news for how we're building value with our new subscriptions products. We're starting to roll out Facebook Plus, Instagram Plus and WhatsApp Plus, with enhanced features that our community already loves. These subscription plans offer richer ways to express and connect across our apps with more fun features to be added," she said.
According to Meta, the new subscription offerings are designed to provide users with premium tools, enhanced personalisation options and exclusive experiences across its apps.
The company also revealed plans to eventually combine all subscription services under a single umbrella brand called Meta One.
"We're also thinking about how to bring this all together in a way that makes sense. You may see us testing subscriptions under the name Meta One. While we're still testing and learning, eventually we see Meta One as the one place that brings our subscriptions together across all of our apps," Gleit added.
The announcement comes as Meta continues to invest heavily in artificial intelligence infrastructure and AI-driven products.
Reports suggest that Instagram+ and Facebook+ subscriptions may be priced at $3.99 (approximately Rs 384.30) per month, while WhatsApp+ could cost $2.99 (around Rs 287.96) monthly. The company has not yet disclosed official pricing details for India.
The upcoming subscription plans are expected to include advanced analytics, profile customisation features, enhanced audience reach and story rewatch insights. Meta appears to be focusing mainly on creators, influencers and users seeking greater visibility and control on the platforms.
