Senior Advocate Santanu Naik Nominated as Member of DRUCC, Lumding Division under N.F. Railway.

Senior Advocate of Cachar, prominent RSS leader and senior BJP functionary Santanu Naik has been nominated as a Member of the Divisional Railway Users' Consultative Committee (DRUCC) of the Lumding Division under the North East Frontier Railway (NFR).

The nomination was made through an official communication issued by the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, Lumding Division, N.F. Railway, regarding the constitution of the Divisional Railway Users' Consultative Committee (DRUCC).

Santanu Naik's nomination was recommended by Parimal Suklabaidya , Hon'ble Member of Parliament from the Silchar Lok Sabha Constituency.

The DRUCC is an important consultative body that serves as a platform for representing the interests of railway users and providing valuable suggestions on passenger amenities, railway services, infrastructure development, and operational matters within the division.

The Lumding Division is one of the largest divisions of the North East Frontier Railway, covering railway operations across Assam, Tripura, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, and Meghalaya. Minister Kaushik Rai Launches Three Smart Civic Initiatives in Silchar.

Under the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sarma, Minister Kaushik Rai i today launched three major citizen-centric initiatives aimed at transforming Silchar into a cleaner, smarter, and more citizen-friendly city.

The newly launched initiatives include:

- Public Facilitation Centre (PFC)
- Vehicle Tracking System (VTS) for Silchar Municipal Corporation
- QR-based Waste Collection System

These technology-driven initiatives are expected to significantly strengthen urban governance by improving waste management, enhancing transparency in municipal operations through real-time vehicle monitoring, and ensuring faster, more efficient, and accessible civic services for the people of Silchar.

The launch reflects the Government of Assam's continued commitment to promoting digital governance and sustainable urban development while improving the quality of civic services for residents.

Exclusion of Veteran Leader Parimal Suklabaidya and Dholai MLA Amiya Kanti Das from SMCH Hospital Management Society Governing Body..!

The recent constitution of the Governing Body of the Hospital Management Society (HMS) of Silchar Medical College and Hospital (SMCH) has sparked widespread discussion among BJP karyakartas and residents across Cachar district over the exclusion of Silchar Lok Sabha MP and veteran BJP leader Parimal Suklabaidya, who also served for many years as the Chairman of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, and Dholai MLA Amiya Kanti Das.

The decision has drawn significant attention on social media, where numerous party workers and local citizens have expressed disappointment and questioned the reasons behind the omission of the two elected representatives from the Governing Body.

Supporters have highlighted that Parimal Suklabaidya is one of the most senior and respected political leaders of the Silchar Lok Sabha constituency and the entire Barak Valley. Throughout his distinguished public life—as a State Cabinet Minister and now as a Member of Parliament—he has consistently worked for the advancement of healthcare, education, infrastructure, and public welfare. He has also served for a long period as the Chairman of Silchar Medical College and Hospital, during which he played an important role in the institution's development. As a Member of Parliament, he has repeatedly raised issues concerning SMCH before both the State and Central Governments and has actively facilitated the strengthening of healthcare infrastructure and medical services in the region.

Similarly, Dholai MLA Amiya Kanti Das has remained actively engaged in addressing healthcare-related concerns and public welfare issues affecting the people of his constituency. His continued involvement in developmental initiatives has earned him the confidence of the local population.

Many citizens believe that the experience, administrative knowledge, and long-standing commitment of these two public representatives would have significantly strengthened the functioning of the Hospital Management Society. Social media platforms continue to witness appeals from BJP karyakartas and members of the public urging the concerned authorities to reconsider the composition of the Governing Body and ensure appropriate representation of senior elected representatives.

As of now, no official explanation has been issued regarding the criteria adopted for constituting the Governing Body. The issue continues to generate considerable public discussion across Cachar district and the Barak Valley, with many citizens seeking greater transparency in the committee's formation.

Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya Meets Union Education Minister Pralhad Joshi; Seeks Immediate Intervention to Prevent Closure of KV Assam University, Silchar.

Member of Parliament from Silchar Lok Sabha Constituency & Senior BJP Leader Parimal Suklabaidya on Tuesday called on the Hon'ble Union Minister of Education Pralhad Joshi at Kartavya Bhawan, New Delhi on yesterday and submitted a memorandum seeking the Ministry's urgent intervention to prevent the closure of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Assam University, Silchar.

During the meeting, MP Suklabaidya highlighted that the Kendriya Vidyalaya, which is currently functioning under Project Mode, is facing the threat of closure due to financial constraints. He informed the Hon'ble Minister that the school requires approximately ₹3 crore annually for its operation, which Assam University is presently unable to sustain.

Parimal Suklabaidya emphasized that the Kendriya Vidyalaya is not merely an educational institution but a lifeline for thousands of students from economically weaker and marginalized sections of society. He pointed out that the school serves children from nearly ten major tea estates—West Jalinga, Rosekandy, Borjalenga, Derby, Allenpur, Silcoorie, Borakhai, Binodnagar, Kailashpur, and Iringmara—along with several smaller tea gardens in the surrounding areas. For the children of tea garden workers and their families, the school represents the only opportunity to access quality education under the Kendriya Vidyalaya system.

MP also informed the Union Minister that the school is equally important for the families of approximately 350 regular teaching staff and 300 regular non-teaching staff of Assam University, whose children are dependent on this institution. In addition, a large number of civilians from nearby rural areas rely on the school for quality education, making it an essential educational institution for the entire region.

Highlighting the overwhelming public demand, Suklabaidya stated that more than 900 students apply for admission every year, while the school currently provides education to nearly 500 students from Balvatika-III to Class X, supported by 14 regular teachers and 9 contractual teachers.

Hon'ble MP urged the Union Minister to take compassionate and immediate steps by bringing Kendriya Vidyalaya, Assam University, Silchar under the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan (KVS), as the institution already possesses the required infrastructure and essential facilities. He stressed that such a decision would secure the future of hundreds of students and protect the educational interests of the people of Barak Valley.

Hon'ble Union Minister gave a positive and sympathetic hearing to the matter and assured Suklabaidya that the Ministry would examine the issue on priority and take appropriate steps in the larger interest of the students and the institution and also positively regularise the school for the grrate interest of students future.

Further, Hon'ble MP Parimal Suklabaidya also discussed various issues relating to the development of educational infrastructure on the Assam University campus. The discussions included the need to strengthen academic facilities, improve educational infrastructure and enhance the overall quality of higher education in the region for the benefit of students, faculty members, and the people of Barak Valley.

Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya Meets Union Minister Nitin Gadkari, Pushes Seven Major Road Projects for Silchar and Barak Valley.

"A Major Push for Strategic Road Connectivity, Decongestion and Safer Transportation Infrastructure in Barak Valley"

New Delhi, 13 August 2026: Silchar Lok Sabha MP and senior BJP leader Parimal Suklabaidya today met Hon’ble Union Minister for Road Transport & Highways Nitin Gadkari in New Delhi and placed before him a comprehensive proposal for seven major road infrastructure projects aimed at transforming connectivity, reducing traffic congestion and strengthening the strategic road network of Silchar and the wider Barak Valley.

The meeting assumes special significance as
Shri Parimal Suklabaidya has been a strong advocate of road infrastructure development in Assam and holds the distinction of being the first BJP PWD Minister of Assam from the Barak Valley.

During his tenure as PWD Minister, several important road and bridge projects received major impetus across the region, including the new Sadarghat Bridge, Badri Bridge, Silchar–Sribhumi Road, Rongpur–Udharbond–Airport VIP Road, and other strategic State Highway improvements.

He also took significant initiatives towards addressing Silchar town’s growing traffic and connectivity challenges, including the proposal for a flyover in Silchar town and the widening and improvement of the Birbal Bazar–Silchar Medical College road.

Following the subsequent change in the State Cabinet and Shri Suklabaidya’s departure from the PWD portfolio, the momentum for several major road development initiatives in Silchar and Barak Valley faced challenges. With the region witnessing rapid urbanisation, population growth and increasing commercial and vehicular movement, the demand for a comprehensive road infrastructure upgrade has become even more urgent.

Against this backdrop, Shri Suklabaidya’s meeting with Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari marks a fresh and determined push for large-scale road development in Silchar and Barak Valley.

Seven Major Strategic Road Projects Proposed

Shri Suklabaidya placed the following seven important proposals before the Hon’ble Union Minister:

1. Four-Laning of SH-39 from SMCH to Dwarbond Bazar
A proposal for four-laning of approximately 22 km of this vital corridor to improve connectivity and reduce congestion. The project is particularly important for ambulances, patients travelling to Silchar Medical College & Hospital, students of NIT Silchar and Assam University, and thousands of daily commuters.

2. Four-Laning of NH-306 from Rangirkhari Point to Sonabarighat
The proposed four-laning of approximately 7 km will help ease the heavy traffic pressure along one of Silchar’s important residential and commercial corridors and improve the movement of people and goods.

3. Four-Laning of NH-37 from Capital Point to Silchar ISBT
The proposed 6 km four-lane corridor is aimed at addressing chronic traffic congestion and improving the efficiency of public transport and daily commuter movement in the heart of Silchar.

4. New Greenfield Alignment from Annapurna Bridge to NH-27 at Dolu Bazar
A new 12.65 km greenfield bypass has been proposed to divert heavy freight traffic away from densely populated areas of Silchar. The alignment would help reduce congestion, improve road safety and create a safer and more efficient urban transportation network.

5. Upgradation of SH-38 from E&D Colony to Kalain
The proposal seeks upgradation of approximately 28.5 km of this strategically important and heavily congested route to four lanes. The project would significantly improve regional connectivity, reduce bottlenecks and strengthen mobility during emergencies and natural disasters.

6. Upgradation of NH-37 through the Kashipur Route
A proposal has been placed for widening approximately 13 km of the narrow and congested stretch. The project is expected to facilitate safer movement of agricultural vehicles, daily commuters, schoolchildren and local residents.

7. Upgradation of NH-37 through the Rongpur Route
The proposal seeks upgradation of approximately 12 km through the densely populated agricultural belt of Rongpur. The project would improve road safety, reduce accident risks and provide better connectivity to communities along the corridor.

A Vision for a Better Connected Barak Valley

Speaking about the meeting, Shri Parimal Suklabaidya said that the development of modern road infrastructure is essential for the economic and social progress of Barak Valley.

He emphasised that Silchar is not only the commercial and educational hub of Barak Valley but also a crucial gateway connecting southern Assam with Mizoram, Manipur and Tripura. Therefore, strengthening its road infrastructure has significance beyond the Silchar Lok Sabha constituency.

Shri Suklabaidya expressed confidence that under the dynamic leadership of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji and the transformative vision of Hon’ble Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji, the proposed projects would receive serious consideration.

He further stated that the proposals are intended not merely to widen roads, but to create a long-term, integrated and future-ready transportation network capable of supporting Silchar and Barak Valley’s growing population, economy, education, healthcare and trade.

The MP thanked Union Minister Shri Nitin Gadkari Ji for giving patient consideration to the proposals and for his continued commitment towards strengthening road connectivity across the Northeast.

The meeting has generated fresh hope for the people of Silchar and Barak Valley, with the proposed projects having the potential to significantly improve connectivity, road safety, traffic management, emergency response, economic activity and regional integration.
