🚨 Brutal Gang R**e Reported on Silchar Bypass; FiancÊ Held at Knifepoint

Silchar, Feb 22: In a shocking and deeply disturbing incident, a young woman was allegedly gang-raped by seven men on the Silchar Bypass on Thursday night. The crime reportedly took place near the Chengkuri Road area.

According to the victim’s statement, she and her fiancÊ had gone for a drive around 8 PM and parked their vehicle near Chengkuri Road. A Thar vehicle carrying seven men allegedly arrived at the location shortly afterward.

The accused, reportedly armed with knives, forcibly pulled the fiancÊ out of the car and detained him at knifepoint a short distance away. While he was restrained, the remaining accused allegedly assaulted the woman inside the vehicle. The attackers are said to have threatened the victim to prevent her from raising an alarm.

Sources indicate that the victim has identified one of the accused, reportedly a resident of the Ashram Road area in Silchar. Police have launched a manhunt to apprehend the suspects.

The incident has triggered widespread outrage and raised serious concerns regarding law and order in the region. The crime reportedly occurred at a time when security arrangements were heightened due to the recent visits of Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma.

Residents have demanded increased police patrolling along the Silchar Bypass, particularly after dark. Locals allege that criminal activity often increases at night in certain stretches, leading to growing fear among commuters.

Authorities are investigating the matter.
