First Batch of Kailash Manasarovar Yatris returned to Gangtok today
Today, the first batch of Kailash Manasarovar Yatra (KMY) 2025 pilgrims successfully returned to Gangtok after completing their sacred pilgrimage to Mount Kailash and Manasarovar. The batch reached Nathula at around 12:45 PM, where they completed all the necessary customs and immigration formalities.
Following the formalities, the yatris were taken to Sherethang, where ITBP authorities joined them in lunch. Then, the yatris proceeded to Gangtok, for their stay.
In the evening, a formal Certificate Distribution Ceremony was organized by the Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC) at the hotel to felicitate the returning yatris. The program was graced by C.S. Rao, Additional Chief Secretary, Tourism and Civil Aviation Department, Government of Sikkim, as the Chief Guest; accompanied by Rajendra Chhetri, Principal Director-cum-CEO, Sikkim Tourism Development Corporation (STDC)
Additional Chief Secretary C.S Rao congratulated the yatris for successfully completing this spiritually significant pilgrimage. He also appreciated the CEO and General Manager of STDC for their meticulous arrangements and hospitality. The ACS specially acknowledged the continuous support of the Government of Sikkim, led Chief Minister Prem Singh Tamang, and commended the contributions of all line departments, particularly the Indo-Tibetan Border Police, for their unwavering support throughout the yatra.
A few yatris were invited to share their personal experiences of the sacred journey. They expressed their gratitude and happiness, feeling blessed for completing the yatra under the care of the Liaison Officer and the organising teams. They thanked STDC and the Government of Sikkim for providing them with a comfortable stay, warm hospitality, and nutritious satvik meals.
