Bollywood’s First Film Had A Boy As The Heroine 😳

In 1913, when there was no established film industry in India, Dadasaheb Phalke created the country’s first full-length film, Raja Harishchandra. At that time, social norms discouraged women from acting in films, which created a major challenge during casting. As a result, the role of the heroine was played by a man, Anna Salunke, who worked as a waiter. Despite initial skepticism from people around him, Phalke completed the film, and its release marked the beginning of Indian cinema. This project laid the foundation for what would later develop into the Bollywood industry.

The Truth About B. R. Ambedkar No One Talks About

On Ambedkar Jayanti, don’t just post do a reality check. If B. R. Ambedkar wasn’t there, you wouldn’t be working 8 hours…you’d be doing 12–14 hours with no weekly off and no overtime pay. Women wouldn’t have equal pay, maternity leave, or even property rights. What feels basic today wouldn’t even exist.

Through the Hindu Code Bill, he fought for women’s rights, and when it wasn’t passed, he left his post but never his principles. He burned Manusmriti as a symbol of rebellion against inequality, and even the foundation of India’s banking system, including the Reserve Bank of India, draws from his ideas. Reservation was meant for upliftment, but today it’s often reduced to politics.

The moment Asha Bhosle decided to change her voice...

Not many know that in her early years, Asha Ji and Lata Didi sounded almost identical. It took a confusing phone call from a production house-who actually mistook a Lata Mangeshkar song for hers-to make Asha Ji realize she needed to find her own identity.
She didn’t just wait for luck to strike; she actively redefined her entire sound. She began studying Western music, watching English films, and mastering complex modulations for genres like Ghazals and Qawwalis. She worked to create a unique style that no one else could replicate.
With over 12,000 songs in 20 languages, she leaves behind a legacy as one of the greatest icons in music history. Her passing marks the end of an era, but it also makes us wonder: what if she had never taken the risk to change her style?
Rest in peace, Asha Tai. Your voice will echo forever.
