बिहार नाम संस्कृत और पाली शब्द विहार (देवनागरी: विहार) से लिया गया है, जिसका अर्थ है "निवास"। वर्तमान राज्य को घेरने वाले क्षेत्र में कई बौद्ध विहार थे, जो प्राचीन और मध्ययुगीन काल में बौद्ध भिक्षुओं के निवास स्थान थे।
अब ये नाम बदल देना चाहिए , अन्यथा बिहार वासियो को भी सब कुछ त्याग कर के हिमालय ही जाना पड़ेगा।
आज आम जनता गौतम बुद्धा का अनुसरण नहीं कर पाती , बल्कि परिवार बना के पीढ़ी को आगे बढ़ाती है और उसका भरण पोषण करने में ही विश्वास रखती है और यही सच्चाई है।
The name Bihar is derived from the Sanskrit and Pali word Vihar (Devanagari: विहार), meaning "abode". The area encompassing the present state contained many Buddhist viharas, which were the residences of Buddhist monks in ancient and medieval times.
Now this name should be changed, otherwise the people of Bihar will also have to leave everything and go to the Himalayas.
Today the general public is not able to follow Gautam Buddha, rather they believe in taking the generation forward by forming a family and supporting it and this is the truth.
