In 2021, a distressing total of 375,058 women aged 18 and above were reported missing throughout India, with an additional 90,113 girls under the age of 18, as revealed by recent data from the Union home ministry presented in Parliament last week. Over the span of 2019 to 2021, the National Crime Records Bureau (NCRB) has compiled data indicating that a staggering 10,61,648 women above the age of 18 and 2,51,430 underage girls went missing nationwide. These numbers underscore the concerning issue of missing females in the country, calling for further attention and action to address this grave matter.
