Built in a record 14 months, this state-of-the-art plant will mark the commercial rollout of Ashok Leyland’s first electric bus from Uttar Pradesh, symbolizing a major step toward sustainable urban mobility. 🌱🚌

Annual production capacity: 2,500 electric buses, expandable to 5,000 units in the next phase.

Naim Farooq, founder of Global Electric Motors Sopore, has brought battery-powered two-wheelers to North kashmir and adjoining areas, offering commuters a cleaner and cheaper alternative to conventional transport.
Naim Farooq, who left a stable job to launch the venture, said his focus is not just on sales but also on raising awareness about sustainable mobility. His initiative has also generated local employment, particularly for youth engaged in sales, service, and maintenance of the scooters.

The adoption of electric scooters has been particularly visible among students, women, and daily commuters, who cite lower running costs and ease of use as key advantages.

With growing demand, Sopore is emerging as a hub for electric mobility in North Kashmir, reflecting a wider push toward sustainable transportation in the Valley.
