*Government has hiked the fees for passports, with a 36-page fresh passport or reissue of passport now costing Rs 2,500.*

The Passports (Amendment) Rules, 2026 will come into force with effect from 1st of July.

In a notification, MEA said that under the new fee structure, a fresh passport or reissue of passport under Tatkal will cost Rs 5,000.

The fee for 60-page ordinary passport or reissue will be Rs 3500, and under Tatkal, this will attract Rs 6,000. The existing fee for a 36-page passport is Rs 1,500 and for a 60-page passport is Rs 2,000.
