*Sopore Police arrested one drug peddler and recovered contraband substance*

Sopore, 15 June 2023:

Sopore Police arrested one drug peddler namely Muhammad Arif Malik S/O Muhammad Yaseen Malik R/O Achabal Sopore during patrolling duty at Alsafa Colony Sopore, during his personal search 107 grams of charas like contraband substance were recovered from his possession.

In this regard, case FIR No. 132/2023 US 8/20 of NDPS Act stands registered at Police Station Sopore and investigation has been taken up.

*Authorities seek legal clearance from parents In Kupwara over non-involvement of their wards in drug activities*

Srinagar, June 15 (KNO): The authorities in Kupwara district have asked the parents of those wards seeking admission in government schools to submit an affidavit that their wards area not involved in any drug related activities.

According to a circular, a copy of which lies with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), Chief Education Officer (CEO) Kupwara warned that the concerned authorities will cancel admission of such students if found involved in any sort of drug related activities.

"Since the admission process has been started for classes 9th, 10th, 11th and 12th standard, the HOls of HS and HSS are directed to get an affidavit from the parents to the effect that 'their ward is not involved in any drug related activities," the CEO said in a circular.

It also said, "In case the student is found in any type of such activity, the admission of the student will be cancelled ab intio."—(KNO)

*SIU Kupwara attaches 26 Kanals land of Pakistan based Militant*

Kupwara, June 15,2023

In a significant achievement in the fight against Militants, Special Investigation Unit (SIU) of Kupwara Police has successfully attached the property (land) of a notorious militant operating from Pakistan.

The Pakistan based militant, Almas Rizwan Khan son of Late Mohd Anwar Khan originally a resident of Diver Lolab, has been a persistent threat to peace and security of UT of Jammu and Kashmir since the time he exfiltrated to Pakistan in early 1990s. Earlier a member of TJI and now TRF, Almas’s strategic involvement in numerous acts of terror has caused immense suffering and loss of innocent lives in the valley in the past. Jammu and Kashmir Police has been actively pursuing his acts to bring an end to his destructive activities.

Following extensive intelligence gathering and meticulous investigations in case FIR No.276/2022 of Police Station Kupwara registered under sections 120-B, 121, 121-A, 122, 123 IPC & 17, 18, 18-A, 18-B, 20, 38, 39, 40 of UA(P)A, the team of SIU Kupwara Police led to the identification and subsequent attachment of the militant property of land measuring 26 Kanals and 4 Marlas located at three different locations within the district at Diver Lolab. This measure aims to disrupt his illicit network and restrict his ability to carry out further acts of terror.

The attachment of the property serves as a strong message to militants and their supporters that their actions will not go unnoticed or unpunished. It underscores the unwavering commitment of Jammu and Kashmir Police to combating terrorism at its roots and dismantling its infrastructure.
