*Leopard spotted in Baramulla locality, search ops launched, locals cautioned*

Baramulla, Dec 21 (KNO): A leopard entered a residential area in Janbazpora locality of north Kashmir’s Baramulla district, creating panic among residents. The leopard, roaming in the village, was captured on a CCTV camera.

Soon after spotting the leopard, locals informed the authorities concerned, following which a search operation was launched.

An official told the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO) that as soon as they got the information, teams were rushed to the spot to locate the animal.

He said that operation was jointly launched by Wildlife and Forest department and their priority was to ensure the safety of residents.

He added that the if the animal is not located, the search operation will be closed due to darkness and will be resumed with the first light of the day.

The authorities have also advised residents to exercise caution and avoid venturing outside during night hours—(KNO)

*World Cup Final: Australian spectator who breached security to meet Virat Kohli detained by Gujarat Police*

Ahmedabad, November 19: The Gujarat State Police detained the Australian spectator who was supporting Palestine and breached security and hugged Virat Kohli during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2023 final between India and Australia at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Sunday.

The man has been brought to the Chandkheda Police Station in Ahmedabad.

The man who breached the security and entered the field during India vs Australia Final match said, “My name is John…I am from Australia. I entered (the field) to meet Virat Kohli. I support Palestine…”

A security breach took place during the India vs Australia World Cup final at Ahmedabad’s Narendra Modi Stadium.

In a massive security breach, a Palestinian supporter invaded the field and hugged Virat Kohli during the 14th over of India’s innings; however, he was quickly removed by the security.

The Palestinian supporter was wearing a T-shirt with a free Palestine slogan and a mask with a Palestinian flag colour theme as he invaded the field during the ongoing final match.

The Israel-Hamas war began on October 7, 2023, when Hamas launched a surprise assault on southern Israel. Hamas launched at least 5,000 rockets from Gaza, killing around 1,400 Israelis. Hamas also took many Israeli soldiers and civilians hostage in the Gaza Strip.

Israel responded with retaliatory strikes and declared war on Hamas the following day. The Israeli military began an offensive on the Palestinian enclave.

Amid deafening noise at a full house at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Australia skipper Pat Cummins won the toss and opted to bowl first against India in the World Cup final on Sunday.

The Indian team waltzed into the final unbeaten after playing 10 games, chasing five of the matches while defending totals in five.

On the other hand, Australia, after losing two games on the bounce at the start of the tournament, recovered to win eight consecutive matches thereafter to reach the final.

India will be looking to lift their third World Cup title, while Australia will be aiming to clinch their sixth trophy.

*MeT Forecasts Wet Weather In J&K For 2 Days*

Srinagar, July 13 (GNS): Weatherman on Wednesday forecast light to moderate rain and thunderstorm in Jammu and Kashmir for two days.

“Light to moderate rain/thunderstorm at many places of Jammu & Kashmir,” a meteorological department official said about the forecast, adding, “Same weather likely to continue for next 1-2 days.”

He said that during the last 24 hours till 0830 hours today, 3.6 mm of rainfall was recorded in Kupwara, 0.5mm in Gulmarg and 2.1 mm in Bhaderwah while Jammu had traces.

Meanwhile, Srinagar recorded a low of 18.8°C against 18.7°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.7°C above normal during this time of the year for the summer capital, he told GNS.

Qazigund recorded a low of 17.2°C against 16.0°C on the previous night. The temperature was 0.7°C above normal for the gateway town of Kashmir, he said.

In Pahalgam, the mercury settled at 12.8°C same as on the previous night and it was 0.8°C above normal for the south Kashmir resort. Kokernag recorded a low of 16.6°C against 15.5°C last night and it was 0.7°C above normal for the place, he told Global News Service.

World famous Gulmarg resort recorded a low of 11.5°C against 10.5°C and it was 0.3°C below normal for the place. Kupwara town saw a low of 16.1°C against 17.1°C on previous night and it was 0.3°C ‘below’ usual for this time of the season, the official said.

Jammu recorded a low of 27.2°C, 2.4°C above normal for J&K’s winter capital, he said. Banihal recorded a low of 18.4°C, Batote 19.7°C, Katra 23.8°C while Bhadarwah had a minimum of 20.1°C, the official added. (GNS)

*Two boys die of electric shock in two different incidents in Kashmir*

Srinagar, June 1 Two boys in two separate incidents of electrocution died in Central and North Kashmir.

A 12-year-old boy died after receiving an electric shock at his home in Mamath hamlet of Central Kashmir's Budgam district on Wednesday.

Police sources said that a boy identified as Riyaan Ajaz Mir son of Ajaz Ahmad Mir shortly after receiving an electric shock was rushed to Budgam hospital by family members.

However, doctors declared him dead on arrival.

Police in this regard have registered a case under relevant sections of law.
In yet another incident, a 17-year old boy identified as Rudaiz Javaid Lone of Vuhlutra Rafiabad area of North Kashmir’s Baramulla district also received an electric shock at his home.
The boy was taken to Sub District Hospital Rohama where doctors referred him to GMC Baramulla. The boy succumbed to the injuries in the hospital.
A case in this regard has been registered at police station Panzallah Sopore.

*B'la gr***de attack: Slain man's family protest, block highway in Rajouri*

Rajouri, May 18 : The villagers in Bakhar area of Rajouri have blocked Jammu Rajouri Poonch national highway over death of a local man killed in gr***de explosion on Tuesday at a newly opened wine shop in Baramulla.

Locals told news agency—Kashmir News Observer that the family members and other villagers of deceased have blocked the main highway connecting Rajouri and Poonch districts with Jammu provincial headquarter and stalled vehicular movement.

The protesters are demanding an ex gratia of twenty five lakh rupees for the family of deceased and employment to one of the family members.
The protesters said that the deceased was father of four daughter and one minor son and was sole bread earner in family.

According to eye witnesses, local administration was trying to pacify protesters but they refused to lift their dharna till their demands are met
