CEO Sopore Highlights Developmental Progress, Promises to Restore Town’s Lost Glory

Chief Executive Officer, Municipal Council Sopore, Wali Mohammad Wani, on Friday briefed the media regarding the ongoing developmental works and revenue achievements of the council. While addressing the reporters, he expressed optimism that Sopore will soon regain its lost glory through continuous efforts and public cooperation.

The CEO informed that over the past three months, the Municipal Council Sopore has successfully generated revenue from building permission lonely amounting to ₹37 lakhs, a significant achievement that reflects the department’s improved efficiency and financial discipline.

SRM Welkin Students Shine in District Badminton Championship 2025

SRM Welkin School Sopore students once again brought laurels to their institution by excelling in the District Badminton Championship 2025, organised by Range Police Headquarters Baramulla under the Civic Action Programme. In an impressive display of skill and determination, the talented duo brothers, Ziyan Bashir and Firasat Bashir clinched top honours in the tournament, with Ziyan Bashir winning in the singles category and Firasat Bashir emerging victorious in the doubles event.

BIS Jammu & Kashmir Branch Organises Hallmarking Awareness Programme in Sopore

The Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS), Jammu and Kashmir branch office, today organised an awareness programme on hallmarking of gold and silver jewellery in collaboration with the Gold and Silver Association Sopore, which is affiliated with the All J&K Gold Dealers and Workers Association, Srinagar.

The event, held in Sopore town, witnessed active participation from a large number of gold and silver dealers, jewellers, and artisans from across the town. The main objective of the programme was to educate traders and customers about the importance of hallmarking, BIS certification, and the legal standards that ensure the purity and authenticity of precious metals.

Sopore media association's initiative continuing with a theme "Say yes to sports no to dr*ugs"

A cricket match between Valley Public School and Sopore Media Association carried a strong message of aw*areness against dr*ug abuse through sports.
In a remarkable event promoting education and sports, a friendly cricket match was held under the patronage of Chairman Junaid Ahmad of Valley Public School.

The aim was not only to encourage students and youth towards sports but also to spread awareness about the dan*gers of dr*ug ab*use and the importance of healthy activities.

Both teams displayed enthusiasm, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Sopore Media Association President Shabir Khan emphasized that promoting positive habits and awareness against dr*ugs through school sports is the need of the hour. He added that combining education with sports is essential for the physical and mental growth of youth.

The initiative, held under the theme “Say Yes to Sports, No to Dr*ugs,” was highly appreciated by the public.
