A humble Request to the Health Department to Ensure Anti-Snake Venom in Every PHC.

With the summer and monsoon season here, snakebite cases may increase in many parts of Sikkim, especially in villages and areas near forests.

I would like to make a humble request to the Health Department to make sure that all PHCs and rural health centres have enough anti-snake venom in stock before any emergency happens.

We have seen snakebite incidents in the past. When a snakebite happens, people often have very little time. Many villages are far from big hospitals, and the nearest PHC is usually the first place people rush to for help.

This is not about blaming anyone. It is simply a request to be prepared. No family should lose a loved one because anti-snake venom was not available on time.

Please take this matter seriously and make sure that anti-snake venom is available in every village PHC. Let us prepare now, so that no family has to suffer later. A life lost can never be brought back.

UPDATE | Missing Sikkim Family's Tata Nexon Traced in Teesta Basin; Search Operation to Resume Sunday Morning

Gangtok/Siliguri, June 6: In a major development in the ongoing search for the missing family from East Sikkim, the black Tata Nexon (SK 01 PC 9872) carrying four occupants has been traced in the Teesta river basin along NH-10.

A joint search and rescue operation involving the SDRF, NDRF, West Bengal Police, Teesta River Rescue Team, and relatives from Lingdok, Gangtok, continued until around 7 PM on Saturday. The operation will resume early Sunday morning.

Earlier during the search, rescuers had recovered vehicle debris, including the battery and bumper, which provided crucial leads to investigators.

The family had gone missing on Friday while travelling from Gangtok to Siliguri. They were reportedly last in contact near the Rambhi area before communication was lost.

The missing persons have been identified as:

• Mr. Sabiya Neupaney – Junior Engineer, Culture Department, Government of Sikkim
• Miss Smarika Neupaney – Nursing Lecturer, Sochyagang Nursing College , STNM Hospital
• Mrs. Tika Maya Dahal – Staff, Horticulture Department, Government of Sikkim
• Miss Ditiya Chettri – Minor daughter

According to information provided by relatives from Lingdok, all four family members were travelling together in the vehicle when the incident occurred.

Authorities and family members continue to hope for a positive outcome as the search operation enters a critical phase.

GANGTOK-BOUND FAMILY MISSING, MASSIVE SEARCH OPERATION UNDERWAY ALONG TEESTA RIVER

A family of four, including three adults and a child, who were travelling from Gangtok to Siliguri in a black Tata Nexon (SK01PC9872), has been reported missing since Friday afternoon.
The family's last known contact was between 3:30 pm and 4:30 pm near Rambi. Authorities suspect the vehicle may have been caught in a landslide and flash flood incident that occurred along NH-10 between Sevoke and Baghpul. Mobile phone tracking placed the family in the same area, and search teams have reportedly recovered a vehicle battery and other debris from the landslide zone.
A large-scale search and rescue operation is underway, involving the NDRF, Sikkim administration, and West Bengal Police. NDRF teams have deployed rescue boats in the Teesta River and are conducting extensive searches along the riverbanks.
No official confirmation about the family's whereabouts has been made so far. Anyone with information is requested to contact 8348353109.

The petrol station located at Baiguney on the Jorethang–Legship Road has been serving the public for many years. It provides all the essential facilities expected at a modern fuel station, including petrol and diesel dispensing, tyre air filling services, and a vehicle pollution checking (PUC) center. Today, a young rider lost his hand in a tragic bike accident. It is heartbreaking to think that he could ride yesterday, but his life has changed forever today.

My humble request to all bike riders and car drivers: drive safely, avoid racing and overspeeding. Speed may give a moment of thrill, but safety gives you a lifetime. No road victory is worth losing a life or a limb.

My prayers are with him for strength and recovery. 🙏🏻
