Sonam Wangchuk was in touch with Pak intel: Ladakh DGP
Ladakh’s Director General of Police (DGP), SD Singh Jamwal, on Saturday claimed that activist Sonam Wangchuk, who led the hunger strike demanding statehood for the Union Territory, has links with Pakistan and raised concerns about his visits to neighbouring countries.
The activist was arrested under the National Security Act (NSA) on Friday and was shifted to Rajasthan's Jodhpur Central Jail,
Speaking at a press conference in Leh, DGP Jamwal revealed that police had apprehended a Pakistan PIO (intelligence officer) who was allegedly in contact with Wangchuk.

We arrested a Pakistan PIO in the recent past who was reporting back across. We have a record of this. He (Sonam Wanghchuk) had attended a Dawn event in Pakistan. He also visited Bangladesh. So, there is a big question mark on him. Investigation is being done," the Ladakh top cop said.
Jamwal further accused Wangchuk of instigating violence in Leh during the events of September 24, when at least four people died and nearly 80 others were injured after the protesters resorted to violence and arson, setting the local BJP office and a few vehicles on fire.

RBI to implement new payment authentication rules beyond SMS OTP from April 2026

The RBI has introduced the Authentication Mechanisms for Digital Payment Transactions Directions, 2025, allowing banks, payment operators, and fintech firms to use multiple authentication options beyond SMS OTP.

*New Framework for Authentication*

The two factors of authentication must fall under the three broad categories:

1. Something the user knows – password, passphrase, or PIN.
2. Something the user has – hardware tokens, software tokens, cards.
3. Something the user is – biometrics such as fingerprints, facial recognition, or Aadhaar-based verification.

At least one authentication factor must be dynamic and transaction-specific, ensuring that the validation process is unique for every payment.
