All political parties in Jammu & Kashmir should seriously question their own fate and their very existence.
On one hand, discussions are moving forward about granting special status to Ladakh, while on the other hand, even after seven years, Jammu & Kashmir has still not been restored to full statehood.
The most unfortunate part is that many of Jammu & Kashmir’s political parties seem more concerned about power and positions than about the rights and aspirations of the people.
Our politics has been reduced to attacking one another, trading allegations, and fighting over political space, while the real issues of Jammu & Kashmir continue to remain unresolved.
Perhaps Jammu & Kashmir is the only place where political leaders find it easier to fight among themselves than to unite for the rights of their own people.
When it comes to Statehood, people’s rights, and the future of Jammu & Kashmir, political differences should be put aside and all parties should speak with one voice.
Power and positions are temporary. The rights and future of the people of Jammu & Kashmir are not.
