Zahoor Ahmad Dar Raises Public Issues of Charar-i-Sharief, Yousmarg, Kanidagen and Pakerpora with J&K LG Shri Zahoor Ahmad Dar, National Social Activist of India, today met Hon’ble Lieutenant Governor of Jammu & Kashmir at Lok Bhawan, Srinagar, and raised several important public issues concerning the common people of Kashmir.
During the meeting, Dar apprised the Lieutenant Governor of the problems being faced by residents, tourists, traders and visitors in different areas, particularly Charar-i-Sharief, Yousmarg, Kanidagen and Pakerpora.
He highlighted the need for immediate attention towards the parking issue, traffic management and other basic civic facilities, stating that the shortage of proper parking arrangements is causing inconvenience to the public as well as tourists.
Dar also raised issues related to the Pakerpora Police Station/FIR-related public concerns, urging the administration to ensure that people receive timely assistance and that their genuine grievances are addressed in a fair and transparent manner.
He further discussed the development and tourism-related concerns of Yousmarg and surrounding areas, emphasizing the need to improve infrastructure, road connectivity, sanitation, parking facilities and other amenities to make these important tourist destinations more accessible and visitor-friendly.
The social activist also brought up issues concerning Charar-i-Sharief and Kanidagen, seeking greater administrative attention towards local development and the day-to-day difficulties faced by the common people.
Dar also discussed matters connected with the Kashmir Film Festival, stressing the importance of promoting Kashmir as a peaceful and attractive destination for filmmakers, artists and visitors. He said that such events can provide opportunities for local talent, strengthen the tourism sector and showcase Kashmir's rich culture, heritage and natural beauty to the wider world.
Shri Zahoor Ahmad Dar said that the concerns of ordinary citizens must remain at the centre of governance and development. He urged the administration to take necessary measures on the issues raised during the meeting and ensure that genuine public grievances are resolved at the earliest.

CAIT Kashmir Chapter Formed to Raise Traders’ Issues; Batamaloo Bus Stand Auction Comes Under Scanner

Srinagar: A new traders’ body, the Confederation of All Traders (CAIT), Kashmir Chapter, has been constituted to raise issues confronting the business community across Jammu and Kashmir and seek their time-bound resolution from the government and administration.

Speaking to reporters, CAIT President Farhan Kithab & General Secretary Peer Imtaiz & representatives said the organisation has brought together representatives from different districts to create a monitoring mechanism through which grievances of the trading community will be identified and taken up with the concerned authorities, including the Chief Minister’s Office and Lieutenant Governor’s Office, on a priority basis.

The representatives urged the government and administration to take the concerns of traders seriously and ensure their immediate resolution.

The CAIT also expressed concern over the reported auction of the Batamaloo Bus Stand, saying the issue directly affects the livelihood of transporters, traders, street vendors and people from adjoining areas who depend on the bus stand for their daily income.

The organisation said it would seek complete and authentic details regarding the auction, including the identity of the buyer, the amount involved and the proposed use of the property, before deciding its course of action.

CAIT representatives maintained that the bus stand is not merely a piece of property but an important commercial and transport hub supporting the livelihoods of hundreds of people.

The newly formed Kashmir Chapter also announced its organisational structure, with representatives from North, South and Central Kashmir, along with district-level members and office-bearers.

The leadership said CAIT would function as an open, transparent and inclusive platform, where traders from across Kashmir would have an equal opportunity to raise their concerns.

The organisation said its credibility would ultimately depend on its actions and its ability to deliver results for the trading community.

Nurse Arrested in Kishtwar Minor Death Case, Total Accused Reach Six

*Sonika, posted at District Hospital Kishtwar, arrested after SIT probe; police says further arrests to follow if warranted by evidence*

Kishtwar, Aug 28 (JKNS): District Police Kishtwar has arrested a nurse posted at District Hospital Kishtwar as the sixth accused in the investigation into the suspicious death of a minor girl from Chatroo, with the probe allegedly uncovering evidence related to sexual exploitation, pregnancy and attempts to terminate the pregnancy.

As per news agency JKNS, District Police Kishtwar has arrested Sonika, Nurse at District Hospital Kishtwar, as the sixth accused in the ongoing investigation into the suspicious death of a minor girl, aged about 15–16 years, from the Chatroo area.

The arrest has been made in connection with FIR No. 34/2026 of Police Station Chatroo, registered under relevant provisions of the POCSO Act, BNS and the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

Considering the seriousness and sensitivity of the matter, SSP Kishtwar, constituted a SIT. During investigation, material surfaced regarding the alleged sexual exploitation of the minor, her pregnancy, attempts to terminate the pregnancy and the involvement of multiple persons, including those connected with her medical treatment. Five accused had already been arrested, and the role of Sonika subsequently surfaced during the investigation, leading to her arrest as the sixth accused.

The SIT is continuing a thorough, scientific, impartial and evidence-based investigation into the circumstances leading to the minor’s death and the role of every person found connected with the case.

Further arrests, wherever warranted by evidence, are being pursued, and strict legal action will be taken against all persons found involved in accordance with law. District Police Kishtwar reaffirms its commitment to an expeditious and thorough investigation and shall ensure no one guilty is spared. (JKNS)
