"Eidgah will be ready before Eid": Waqf Chairperson

Srinagar/ The Jammu and Kashmir Waqf Board has directed that the ongoing construction at Eidgah Srinagar be completed before Eid ul Fitr, ensuring that the historic prayer ground is ready for public use. Chairperson of the Board Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, while inspecting the site, emphasized the importance of maintaining the Eidgah in a well-organized and aesthetically pleasing condition. She stated that all necessary instructions had been given to the concerned authorities to expedite the construction work. She was accompanied by Waqf Board Member Syed Mohammad Hussain and the officers of the Board and the government. “We want Eidgah to be in its best condition so that people can offer prayers without any inconvenience,” Dr. Andrabi said. However, she clarified that holding if Eid prayers at the site would depend on the prevailing security situation and the weather conditions on the day.
Dr. Andrabi also reviewed renovation projects at key shrines, including Hazratbal, Dastgeer Sahib, and Makhdoom Sahib. She assured that all preparations were being made for Shab-e-Baraat to facilitate devotees. “There are various government agencies responsible for maintaining the hygiene and other facilities at the religious sites, and we are ensuring that all necessary measures are taken,” she said. Dr Darakhshan said that the ongoing construction at Eidgah and the improvement of other religious sites reflects a broader effort to enhance facilities for worshippers.
Dr Andrabi spoke to media persons during her visits and clarified that the Board was working in coordination with all other departments to ensure proper facilities to the visitors at the shrines during the festivals and routine days.

*Er Rashid granted 2-day custody parole to attend Parliament*

The Delhi High Court today granted custody parole of 2 days to Awami Ithehad Party chief and Member of Parliament from north Kashmir Er Rashid.

According to details available with news agency— Er Rashid has been granted 2-day custody parole to enable him to attend the Parliament.

The court stated that he is not allowed to use the internet or speak to the media during this period.

Rashid has been in jail since 2019 after he was charged by NIA under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act in alleged terror funding case. He was elected as the Member of Parliament from the Baramulla constituency in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections.

Srinagar, Feb 5: Jammu and Kashmir BJP President Sat Sharma, along with Legislature Party leader Sunil Sharma and other party members, visited the Army hospital at Badami Bagh in Srinagar to check on the condition of two women injured in a militant attack in Kulgam. One of the injured is the wife of Manzoor Wagay, a retired soldier who was killed in the attack. Both women are currently undergoing treatment.

Following the hospital visit, the BJP delegation traveled to Bihibagh, Kulgam, to meet the family of the deceased soldier.

Sat Sharma expressed his condolences and assured the bereaved family of all possible support. He strongly condemned the attack, stating that certain elements in Jammu and Kashmir, acting at the behest of Pakistan, are attempting to disrupt peace in the region.

JAMMU, JANUARY 30: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha paid tributes to the Father of the Nation Mahatma Gandhi on his Punya Tithi, today.
“The principles and values of truth and non-violence to which Gandhiji was always committed are beyond time and place. They are as relevant today as they were during his lifetime. He has guided us for peaceful resolution of differences and well-being of every Indian,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
Attending the Shanti Doot Sammelan, organised by Gandhi Global Family, the Lieutenant Governor honoured the family members of the army brave-hearts, and also paid homage to all the leaders, fighters, and martyrs who devoted themselves towards India’s freedom.
“The world, that we live in today, is witnessing conflicts. In many parts of the globe, societies are facing disruption because of ongoing aggression. In such a scenario, the need for peace and non-violence is deeply felt. I am confident in this situation Bapu's ideals will show the right path to humanity,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor called upon every section of the society to rededicate themselves to the ideals and values of Mahatma Gandhi and come together for the cause of empowerment of poor, youth, women and farmers and make their valuable contribution to realise the vision of Viksit Bharat.
“Pujya Bapu had once said that the mission of his life was to wipe tears from every eye. It should be our life motto. Welfare of the deprived section should be the government's topmost priority and society's collective strength must bring the poorest of poor to the mainstream of development,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor commended the Gandhi Global Family J&K, for its constant endeavours to promote Gandhian values and spreading the noble message of Truth, Non-Violence and Social Harmony.
Responding to the demand put forth by the President of Gandhi Global Family J&K, Padma Shri Dr S.P. Varma, Lieutenant Governor assured that the month-long Gandhi Jayanti celebrations will continue across J&K as per the past practice. He said that the humanity can achieve the right path and goal of peace, harmony and development in Jammu Kashmir, the country and the world only by following the ideals of Bapu.
On the occasion, the Lieutenant Governor was honoured with Shanti Doot Samman by the Gandhi Global Family.
Padma Shri Awardees including Dr. S.P. Varma, Prof. Vishwa Murti Shastri, Dr. Jitendra Udhampuri, and Sh Romalo Ram; meritorious students and Youth were also felicitated by the Lieutenant Governor with Gandhi Doot Samman.
A two-minute silence was observed as a mark of respect to the Father of the Nation and the martyrs who made supreme sacrifice in the struggle for India's freedom. A pledge was also administered to uphold and promote Gandhi ji's vision, ideals and philosophies.

Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha unfurls National Flag at Republic Day function
JAMMU, JANUARY 26: Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha unfurled the National Flag at the UT level function on the occasion of the 76th Republic Day, at MA Stadium this morning.
The Lieutenant Governor inspected the contingents of the Republic Day Parade and took the ceremonial salute.
The Republic Day Parade consisted of smart contingents from Army, BSF, CRPF, SSB, IRP (Women & Male), J&K Police, JKAP, UT Disaster Response Force, J&K Fire and Emergency Services, J&K Forest Protection Force, Excise & Taxation Department, Ex-Servicemen, NCC (Boys and Girls), Bharat Scouts and Guides (Girls & Boys) and several school contingents, Brass & Pipe Bands of Army, BSF, J&K Police and Band Troops (Girl & Boys) of different Schools.
Tableaux by different departments on cultural diversity of J&K, PM-Surya Ghar, Swarnim Bharat ki Virasat, Fit India Movement, War against Drugs and impressive Motorcycle Acrobatic display by JKP dare-devils and cultural pageantry based on the different themes were the main attractions of the celebrations.
Earlier, the Lieutenant Governor laid wreath at Police Martyrs Memorial & Balidan Stambh and paid tributes to the valiant martyrs of the Police, Army, and CAPFs who made the supreme sacrifice for the motherland.
