*SMC Announces Special Arrangements for Eid al-Adha in Srinagar*Door-to-door hide collection, 24x7 control room, normal civic services to continue_
Eid al-Adha approaching, Srinagar Municipal Corporation has rolled out special arrangements to manage waste and maintain civic services across the city.
SMC officials said door-to-door collection of sacrificial animal hides will be carried out on Eid day. Residents have been urged not to dump hides in drains or on roads. Instead, they should hand them over only to designated municipal vehicles to ensure safe disposal.
To cover the entire city, 4-5 drivers have been deployed per ward, with a minimum of 4 drivers assigned to each ward for timely pickup.
The corporation confirmed that essential services will not be disrupted during the festival. Water supply, sanitation drives, mobile toilet van deployment, street lighting, and ward-level duties will continue on their regular schedule.
A control room will remain operational round the clock for complaints and coordination. SMC has issued a detailed duty order listing the name and phone number of the hide-collection driver for every ward. The order has been published on SMC’s official social media handles and in local newspapers. Copies are also available at the Srinagar Municipal Council office.
The officer in charge appealed to residents to celebrate Eid responsibly. “Hides must be collected properly. If thrown into drains, they can cause overflow and lead to pollution of rivers and other water bodies,” he said.
Residents needing the driver’s contact for their ward can check SMC’s social media pages, newspapers, or contact the SNC office.
