* The Annual Gathering At Khanqah Naqshband .
*SRINAGAR, J&K* — the annual spiritual congregation at the historic Khanqah Naqshband Sahab in Khwaja Dyar, Srinagar,
the Khanqah is a centuries-old center associated with the descendants of elders from the Naqshbandi Sufi order. Every year, tens of thousands of devotees gather here for a spiritual assembly centered on the teachings of "Islam and Humanity."
"Today as well, I was not allowed to address the gathering. I was kept confined at home," he said. "Thousands of people come here every year with great anticipation for this spiritual congregation."
He claimed the restriction was imposed because of "different political opinions" and because he speaks on social and religious issues.
Calling the move "extremely unfortunate and shameful," he said it amounts to a ban on the religious rights of Muslims. He urged the elected government to take note and raise the issue, and to pressure authorities to end such restrictions on religious gatherings in both the Kashmir Valley and Jammu.
Khanqah Naqshband Sahab is one of Srinagar’s most prominent shrines and witnesses large congregations, especially during Eid Milad-un-Nabi and other religious occasions.
