VILLGAM, HANDWARA: In a heartbreaking tragedy that has left the entire community mourning, young Mashkoor Ahmad Sheikh of Villgam, Handwara, passed away just seven days after his marriage.

What was supposed to be the beginning of a beautiful new chapter in his life has suddenly turned into a lifetime of grief for his family and loved ones. The family had barely begun celebrating their new beginning when an unimaginable tragedy struck.

Mashkoor reportedly complained of a headache, following which his condition took a tragic turn. His sudden demise has left his newly married family facing a loss that words can hardly describe.

Seven days of marriage… and an entire lifetime of memories left behind. 💔

The news has sent shock and sorrow through Villgam and among those who knew the young man.

May Allah Almighty grant Mashkoor Ahmad Sheikh the highest place in Jannat-ul-Firdous, forgive his shortcomings, and grant his family, especially his newly married wife, immense Sabr and strength during this unbearable time.

With a heavy heart, we share the tragic news of the passing of Mashkoor Ali, son of Ali Mohd Sheikh of Villagam, who passed away today, 28 September 2026, reportedly following a cardiac arrest.

Mashkoor had gotten married on 20 September, just eight days ago. He had only just begun a new journey of life, with hopes and dreams for the future. It is deeply heartbreaking that he has been called back by Allah so soon.

May Allah Almighty forgive his shortcomings, grant him Jannat-ul-Firdous, and give immense strength and Sabr-e-Jameel to his newly-wed wife, parents, family and all those who loved him.

May Allah make this difficult time easier for his family and grant them the strength to bear this irreparable loss. 🤲💔

61,000+ Daily-Wagers Cannot Be Left Waiting Forever: JKNGO’s Federal Coordination Committee Calls for a Time-Bound Roadmap

Srinagar, 27 September 2026:
The JKNGO’s Federal Coordination Committee has expressed serious concern over the prolonged uncertainty confronting more than 61,000 daily-wagers and temporary employees of Jammu & Kashmir, many of whom have served the administration for decades without a secure and dignified employment status.

Chairman Mushtaq Ahmad, H/o Shivpora, Srinagar, stated that the proposed Secretariat Gherao on 28 September 2026 should be viewed not merely as a protest, but as a collective expression of the accumulated frustration of employees who have spent years waiting for a concrete policy framework.

“These employees are not demanding charity; they are seeking justice, dignity and a clearly defined future. For two decades, assurances have been made, committees have been constituted and recommendations have been discussed, yet thousands of families continue to live under uncertainty. A government employee who has devoted the productive years of his life to public service deserves clarity about his future.”

The Committee emphasised that the issue requires a structured, transparent and time-bound resolution, rather than another cycle of assurances and committees. The government’s efforts towards examining regularisation must translate into a clearly articulated roadmap, with defined timelines, institutional responsibility and measurable progress.

The Chairman further appealed to all political parties, civil society organisations, employee bodies, youth representatives and citizens to understand the humanitarian dimension of the issue and extend peaceful and democratic solidarity to the affected workforce.

“The Secretariat is the centre of administration, and approaching it peacefully is a democratic way of placing the voice of those who have remained at the margins of policy for years. Our appeal is for dialogue, not confrontation; for resolution, not rhetoric; and for a roadmap, not another assurance.”
