DGP Nalin Prabhat, Special DGP S.J.M. Gilani Reach Anantnag’s Lal Chowk, Review Security Situation

Anantnag, July 22 : Director General of Police (DGP) Nalin Prabhat and Special Director General of Police (Coordination) S.J.M. Gilani on Wednesday reached the Lal Chowk area of Anantnag to personally assess the security situation following the recent terror attack in which a police personnel was martyred.
Senior police officers accompanied the DGP during the visit as he reviewed the ground situation and received a detailed briefing from officers leading the ongoing anti-terror operation in the area. The top police officials also inspected security arrangements and issued necessary directions to ensure the operation is carried out effectively.
The visit comes amid intensified security measures and a massive search operation launched by police and other security agencies to track down the terrorists involved in the attack. Additional reinforcements have been deployed, and the area remains under a tight security grid as the operation continues.

Delhi Police on Tuesday forcibly removed and detained Congress leaders Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, as well as SP chief Akhilesh Yadav, from the protest site outside Prime Minister Narendra Modi's residence.

Rahul Gandhi, along with other Congress leaders, including the Chief Ministers of Karnataka and Kerala, began a sit-in protest around 3:30 p.m. against the police action on protesting students on July 20, 2026.

Interview of JKREGP applicants conducted at Anantnag
DC encourages beneficiaries to become job providers

ANANTNAG, 18 JULY:

J&K Khadi and Village Industries Board (KVIB), Anantnag today conducted interviews of applicants under the J&K Rural Employment Generation Programme (JKREGP) at DC Office, Anantnag.

The interview session was held under the chairmanship of District Development Commissioner, Dr. Bilal Mohiuddin Bhat(IAS) in the presence CPO, Representative GM DIC, DO KVIB, LDM and other members of the District Level Task Force Committee (DLTFC).

Prior to the interview session, a total of 30 online applications were taken up for consideration. Out of these, 25 candidates appeared for the interview and were approved under the JKREGP Scheme, subject to the completion of the prescribed formalities.

The District Development Commissioner encouraged aspiring entrepreneurs to take advantage of the JKREGP Scheme for establishing self-employment ventures and become active job providers. He emphasized that the scheme plays an important role in generating employment and strengthening the local economy.

Reiterating district administration's commitment for promoting sustainable livelihood opportunities and enterpreneurial ecosystem through credit support and handholding of beneficiaries in the district, the DDC said that multiple self employment goverment schemes are being implemented, instructing the members to expedite sanction process in conformity with scheme rules

Residents of Bindoo, Kokernag, staged a peaceful protest outside the PHE Office, demanding the immediate restoration of drinking water supply. The protesters expressed concern over the prolonged shortage of potable water and urged the authorities to resolve the issue without further delay.

The residents also alleged that several illegal water connections from the same pipeline have contributed to the water scarcity in the area.

SHO Kokernag Basaat Choudhary and his team reached the spot, maintained law and order, and ensured the smooth restoration of traffic movement.

Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) Farooz Ahmad Malla assured the residents that the department is taking the matter seriously and that necessary steps are being taken to address their grievances at the earliest.

The people of Bindoo have appealed for a regular and uninterrupted supply of safe drinking water to prevent such hardships in the future.
