HSS Shutloo Rafiabad Conduct Educational Visit to Police Station Panzalla
Baramulla, Oct 14-10-2025
In line with the public outreach and legal awareness initiatives being carried out across the Valley, students of Government Higher Secondary School Shutloo, Rafiabad on 14-10-25 visited Police Station Panzalla for an educational interaction with the officials stationed there.
During the visit, the students were given a guided tour of the police station and briefed on its day-to-day functioning, record maintenance, documentation procedures, and the hierarchy of responsibilities within the force. Officers explained how FIRs are registered, how complaints are processed, and how investigations are taken forward in coordination with other units.
A detailed question–answer session was held with the Station House Officer and other officials present. The students posed incisive questions about how different sections of law are invoked against accused individuals, what parameters guide the framing of charges, and how bail, remand, and custody issues are handled. They also sought clarifications on the distinction between bailable and non-bailable offences, cognizable and non-cognizable cases, and the role of police in preventive action.
Of particular interest to the students were the newly enacted laws passed by Parliament, and how these have altered or replaced older provisions. The officials elaborated on recent legislative changes, procedural updates, and the application of the Criminal Laws (Amendment) Acts, with examples from practical policing.
The officers also sensitized students to cybercrime, narcotics control under NDPS provisions, and community cooperation in crime prevention. They highlighted the growing role of technology, data networks like CCTNS, and the importance of civic awareness in maintaining law and order.
Students expressed keen interest throughout the session and appreciated the openness and clarity with which their queries were addressed. Several participants remarked that the visit changed their perception of police functioning by allowing them to witness the system from close quarters.
