Lieutenant Governor Delivers Keynote Address at Ghazipur Literature Festival

Jammu, 08th November 2025: The Lieutenant Governor, Shri Manoj Sinha today delivered a keynote address at the Ghazipur Literature Festival.
The festival, organised by Bharat Dialogues, brought together authors, scholars, artists and policymakers from Indian diaspora in Mauritius, South Africa, Suriname, Fiji, Norway, and many other countries to celebrate shared heritage and ideas and identity. High Commissioner of South Africa in India, Prof Anil Sooklal and Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha, Dr Sangeeta Balwant were among the special invitees at the event.

In his address, the Lieutenant Governor spoke on the contribution of Indian Diaspora to the humanity’s all-round evolution and global growth.
“With the hard work, integrity, dedication and following the ancient values, Indian Diaspora has gained global recognition and also helped in strengthening ties,” he said.
The Lieutenant Governor called upon the writers and thinkers to act as a bridge between society and perspectives and ideas and strengthen the spirit of "Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat".
He highlighted that the Writers and Thinkers hold a unique position to influence society and have a great responsibility to strengthen social progress and unity by promoting values like equality, justice and fraternity. They must also use their creative power to drive social change and make the world more aware and sensitive to its duties, he further said.
“Literature, new ideas and perspective give strength to the society. Without good literature and new ideas, a society may physically exist but it will lack the intellectual and cultural tools for rapid growth and transformation of the nation.
Literature, knowledge and critical thinking ensures that Society should not become stagnant but it should be like a moving river,” the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor urged the writers, thinkers and citizens to focus on 10 resolutions to make India a strong and developed nation.
"We must work on preservation of knowledge and accurate history, propagation of moral values in society, promotion of social change, building bridges between diverse perspectives, promote critical thinking, inspire progress in the science and technology sector, strengthen the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat, inculcate a sense of pride among the people for shared heritage, empower youth with new ideas, focus on innovation, foster emotional unity, good governance and Jan-Bhagidari," the Lieutenant Governor said.
The Lieutenant Governor also released a publication “Bhojpuri Kahavato ki Duniya” by Shri Sanjeev Kumar Gupta.

Documentary on Drug Menace in Kashmir Earns Jury Recognition at KWFF

Srinagar, Nov 8, KNT: The documentary “Aatish-e-Tilism” has earned the prestigious “Jury Mention” award at the fifth annual Kashmir World Film Festival (KWFF), following a powerful and emotional screening before a packed audience.

The 16-minute film explores Kashmir’s escalating drug addiction crisis, portraying the anguish of affected families and the deep scars left on the region’s youth. Its realistic depiction struck a chord with viewers, many of whom have directly witnessed the growing menace. The screening drew strong emotional reactions from locals and dignitaries alike, who lauded the film’s unflinching honesty and human-centered storytelling.

The jury commended “Aatish-e-Tilism” for balancing sensitivity with journalistic integrity, calling it an important social document that highlights one of Kashmir’s gravest challenges.

The film also sheds light on the collaborative efforts of NGOs such as Chotay Taray and the local administration in helping addicts rebuild their lives through rehabilitation and awareness programs.

Jointly directed by journalist-filmmaker Anil Kumar and Turkish filmmaker Ozge Uyar, “Aatish-e-Tilism” amplifies the voices of survivors and activists, delivering a clear and urgent message: to reject drugs and seek timely help for recovery.

GANDERBAL POLICE LAUNCHES MASSIVE CRACKDOWN ON J&K NATIONALS OPERATING FROM PAKISTAN/POK (JKNOP)

In a major offensive against the Terror Ecosystem, Ganderbal Police today launched a massive crackdown on *J&K Nationals Operating from Pakistan/Pak-Occupied-Kashmir (JKNOP),* aimed at dismantling networks engaged in subversive and anti-national activities.

Acting on credible intelligence, multiple *Cordon and Search Operations (CASOs)* were conducted at *60 locations* across the district. The operations specifically targeted individuals who are in constant touch with their relatives based across the border and are involved in facilitating, financing, and promoting terror-related activities within the district.

During the operation, several relatives and close associates of active *JKNOP Operatives* were interrogated for their sustained involvement in unlawful activities, including logistical support, recruitment facilitation, and circulation of anti-national propaganda. A substantial haul of digital gadgets and incriminating materials was recovered during the raids, which are now being thoroughly analyzed for vital leads.

Reaffirming its firm resolve, *Ganderbal Police* will continue relentless operations to dismantle the entire terror-support network and ensure that those aiding or abetting terrorism are brought to justice.

GANDERBAL POLICE DESTROYS HUGE QUANTITY OF SEIZED CONTRABAND AND PSYCHOTROPIC SUBSTANCES WORTH LACS

District Police Ganderbal conducted a mass disposal drive of the seized drugs. The District Level ‘‘Drug Disposal Committee, Ganderbal’’ under the directions of SSP Ganderbal, destroyed huge quantity of the seized drugs and psychotropic substances, worth lacs.

The contraband and psychotropic substances that were seized in 23 NDPS Cases of district Ganderbal were disposed off, after obtaining proper permission from the competent court, through incineration method at Kashmir Health Care System, IGC Lassipora.

These contraband Substances were destroyed under the supervision senior officers of the district, in the presence of the magistrate.

The mass disposal of seized drugs is a significant step towards our commitment to eradicate drug abuse from the society. District Police Ganderbal will continue to work tirelessly to combat the drug abuse and ensure a safer and healthier environment for our citizens.

Train Service Halted After Eagle Collision in South Kashmir, Pilot Safe

Anantnag, Nov 8, KNT: A minor incident occurred on Saturday morning when Train No. 74626 (Baramulla–Banihal service) was struck by an eagle while passing between Bijbehara and Anantnag railway stations in south Kashmir.

Official sources told news agency KNT that the bird collided with the front windshield of the train, causing minor injuries to the loco pilot identified as Vishal. The injured pilot was given first aid at Anantnag Railway Station and is stated to be out of danger.

Railway officials halted the train at Anantnag Station immediately after the collision to ensure passenger safety and to conduct a detailed inspection of the locomotive before allowing further movement.

Authorities said all precautionary measures were followed and that passenger safety continues to be the foremost priority of the railway department. [KNT]

SRINAGAR, NOVEMBER 07: According to the Chief Engineer, Distribution, KPDCL, power shutdown of 33 KV LJHP-Uri line will be observed due to which Noorkhah, Mohara, Bandi and Salamabad receiving stations shall remain off while power supply to Noorkhah, Bandi, Mohara, Chandwari, Uri Town, Salamabad, Razarwani and adjoining areas will be affected from 09:30 AM to 03:30 PM on 12 & 15 November, 2025.

Similarly, power shutdown of 33 KV Awantipora-Sangam 2nd line will be observed due to which K-koot, LIS Tral-I, II, III and Panzgam receiving stations shall remain off while power supply to LIS Tral, Hariparigam, Saimoh, K-koot, Chursoo, Rathsun, Gulzarpora, Chakoora, Panzgam, Railway and adjoining areas will be affected from 10.00 AM to 03:30 PM on 09 & 12 November, 2025.

Likewise, shutdown of 33 KV Kanipora-Pinjoora line will be observed due to which Pinjoora, Arhama, and Chowdrigund receiving stations shall remain off while power supply to Pinjoora, Phanoo, Trenz, Mohanpora, Imamsahib, Kilora, Arhama, Zawoora, Shirmal, Chowdrigund, Vehil, Nowgam, Reshinagri, Saidpora, Bemnipora, Town Bangam and adjoining areas will be affected from 10:00 AM to 03:00 PM on 08, 11 & 15 November, 2025.

Futhermore, shutdown of 33 KV Kulgam Devsar line will be observed due to which Ashmuji, Chambgund, and Kilam receiving stations shall remain off while power supply to Devsar, Pahloo, Sopat, Akhal, Hablish, Kilam and adjoining areas will be affected from 09.00 AM to 03:30 PM on 08 November, 2025.

Likewise, shutdown of 33 KV Kangan-Surfraw line will be observed due to which Surfraw and Gangangeer receiving stations shall remain off while power supply to Gund, Gadribal, Kullan, Gagangeer, Sonamarg, Fraw, Ganiwan and adjoining areas will be affected from 10.00 AM to 03.30 PM on 09 November, 2025.

Similarly, shutdown of 33 KV Khiram Tap line will be observed due to which Khiram receiving station shall remain off while power supply to Khiram, Mahind and adjoining areas will be affected from 10:00 AM to 03:30 PM on 11, 14 & 15 November, 2025.

Jammu, 07th November 2025: The Lieutenant Governor Shri Manoj Sinha attended the 150th year celebration of 'Vande Mataram', organised by Department of Culture.

The Lieutenant Governor paid tributes to Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay and visited the exhibition on the National Song 'Vande Mataram’. He said, Rishi Bankim Chandra had strengthened the bond between Maa Bharti and her sons and inspired people to secure the independence.

“Our commitment and dedication to the motherland will take our nation to its destiny of a Viksit Bharat. Young generation must remember that they are inheritors of this great civilization and their contribution in the progress and prosperity of society will be fitting tribute to Maa Bharti,” the Lieutenant Governor said.

The year 2025 marks 150 Years of Vande Mataram. Our national song “Vande Mataram”, by Bankim Chandra Chattopadhyay was written during the auspicious occasion of Akshaya Navami which was on 7th November in 1875. Vande Mataram first appeared in the literary journal Bangadarshan as part of his novel Anandamath. The song, invoking the Motherland as the embodiment of strength, prosperity and divinity, gave poetic expression to India’s awakening spirit of unity and self-respect. It soon became an enduring symbol of devotion to the nation. The celebrations witnessed Mass Singing of the full version of “Vande Mataram” with participation of citizens across all segments of society.

Shri Jugal Kishore Sharma, Member of Parliament; Er. Gulam Ali Khatana, Member of Parliament, Rajya Sabha; Shri Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Shri Chandraker Bharti, Principal Secretary, Home; Shri Bhim Sen Tuti; IGP Jammu; Shri Brij Mohan Sharma, Principal Secretary, Culture; Shri Ramesh Kumar, Divisional Commissioner Jammu; administrative secretaries; senior officials; heads of educational institutions; youth and prominent citizens were present. DGP J&K Leads Main Commemoration Programme at PCR Kashmir

November 07:To mark the 150th anniversary of India’s National Song “Vande Mataram,” the Jammu and Kashmir Police organized the main commemoration programme at the Police Control Room (PCR) in Kashmir. The event was inaugurated by the Director General of Police, J&K, Shri Nalin Prabhat, IPS, who led the celebrations with great enthusiasm and patriotic fervour.

The programme commenced with the collective singing of “Vande Mataram,” in which the DGP, senior officers, and a large number of police personnel participated. The powerful rendition echoed through the PCR premises, symbolizing unity, dedication, and devotion to the motherland — values that the song has inspired for generations.

Senior officers of the J&K Police, including Spl. DGP (Coordination) J&K Shri S.J.M. Gillani, IGP Kashmir, DIG IRP Kashmir, DIG CKR, DIG CID, and other senior officials, along with police personnel, graced the occasion.
