Mass Resignation Shakes Jammu & Kashmir United Movement (JKUM).
*Top Leaders Step Down Citing Leadership Apathy and Disillusionment.*
Srinagar, July 10: In a significant blow to the Jammu & Kashmir United Movement (JKUM), a large group of Top-level party functionaries, including Vice Presidents, Secretaries, and District Coordinators, have tendered their resignation en masse, citing lack of direction, inaction, and growing disinterest within the party’s senior leadership.
The resignation was led by Mohd Ejaz, Vice President & Chief Spokesperson of the party who, in a strongly worded letter addressed to the JKUM President and, announced his decision to part ways with the party along with his entire team.
“I joined JKUM with dedication and faith in its mission. But the demoralization due to inaction and disinterest from top leadership has made it impossible for us to continue,” Ejaz wrote.
Joining Ejaz in the exit are several prominent figures, including:
Saqib. Akhoon – Youth President Central Kashmir
Bilal Ahmad Malla – Provincial Coordinator Kashmir
Burhan Nazir Khan – Provincial Coordinator Kashmir
Muzaffar Iqbal- Organiser Central Kashmir
Mohammad Iqbal Lone- Secretary North Kashmir
Sajad Hussain Shah- Secretary Central Kashmir
Umada Latief Sheikh, Asif Bashir, and many others holding key posts across various constituencies and districts.
The resigning members include senior office-bearers from Central Kashmir, North Kashmir, South Kashmir, and the Minority Wing, including the entire youth group from Tangmarg Baramulla. The letter noted that “these individuals were the backbone of the organizational structure,” warning that JKUM may now struggle to sustain meaningful grassroots connections.
Ejaz concluded the letter with a message to the party’s leadership: “My strength is my team, and when their trust is broken and their efforts unappreciated, I cannot remain.”
The development is likely to trigger major organizational changes and introspection within the political spectrum of J&K. As of now, no official response has been issued by the party’s central leadership.
