Drug Peddler Held With Heroin-Like Substance Near Ganpat Bridge Doda
Doda, May 27 (LoC World) : Continuing its drive against drug trafficking under the Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyaan, Doda Police apprehended an alleged drug peddler and recovered around 6.92 grams of he**in (chitta)-like substance near Ganpat Bridge in Doda.
According to police, acting on specific information about a person travelling from Jammu towards Bhaderwah carrying narcotic substance, a naka was laid near Ganpat Bridge under the supervision of SHO Police Station Doda.
During checking, one suspect tried to flee from the spot after noticing the police party, but was chased and apprehended by the alert personnel.
The accused has been identified as Mohd. Asif Bhatt son of Mohd. Alyas Bhatt, resident of Sarna Bhaderwah.
Police said that during his personal search, approximately 6.92 grams of he**in (chitta)-like substance was recovered from his possession. Preliminary investigation suggests that the accused was allegedly carrying the contraband for selling purposes.
In this connection, FIR No. 139/2026 under Sections 8/21/22 of the NDPS Act has been registered at Police Station Doda and further investigation is underway.
Doda Police reiterated its commitment towards making society drug-free and appealed to the public to share information related to drug trafficking and substance abuse in their respective areas.(LoC World)
