Addressing a press conference in Gulmarg, Jammu and Kashmir CM Omar Abdullah said, "Despite the fact that circumstances have not been in our favour this year, we have made continuous efforts to further improve tourism infrastructure. Today, places like Gulmarg or Pahalgam compete not only with destinations within the country but with destinations across the world. This is no longer a time when Indian tourists travelled only within the country; today, Indian tourists travel all over the world. In such a situation, it is not only our responsibility but, in a way, a compulsion to keep improving our infrastructure. That is why some projects were inaugurated in Gulmarg today, and foundation stones were laid for some other projects.

Meeting Held to Discuss Minority ’ Issues in J&K

Jammu, Dec 13 (LoC World): A meeting was held between the Hon’ble Member of Parliament Shri Ghulam Ali Khatana Ji and Jagmeet Kour Bali Chairperson All Sikh Minority Employees Association/All Employees Joint Association Jnk ,to discuss issues concerning minority communities in the Union Territory, with special focus on the challenges faced by minority employees.

During the meeting, Ms. Bali apprised the Hon’ble MP of several long-pending demands of the Sikh community. Key issues discussed included the grant of minority status and reservation to the Sikh community in Jammu and Kashmir, immediate implementation of SRO 425 along with other pending benefits, and the formulation of a comprehensive policy for individuals who remained in the region and were deprived of their rightful entitlements over the years.

Ms. Jagmeet Kaur Bali emphasized the urgent need for timely and effective measures to ensure social justice, security, and equal opportunities for minority communities, particularly for employees serving in various departments.

The meeting was held in a cordial and constructive atmosphere. Shri Ghulam Ali Khatana Ji gave a patient hearing to the concerns raised and assured that the genuine issues of the Sikh community and other minorities would be taken up at appropriate forums. The interaction reflected a shared commitment towards addressing the concerns of minority communities in Jammu and Kashmir.(LoC World)
