Ribbon-Cutting Cannot Rewrite Development History: MLA Lolab Must Answer the People — Aabid Nabi
Aabid Nabi, Representative to MP Baramulla and Media In-charge AIP Kupwara, said that the people of Lolab deserve facts, transparency and accountability, not political publicity dressed up as development.
MLA Lolab Sahib is inaugurating roads in Machil, but the people have some very straightforward questions:
When was the DPR of these roads prepared? When was it approved? Who got these projects approved? Which government department sanctioned them, and through what process did these works finally reach the ground?
If these are already sanctioned PMGSY road projects, then why such eagerness to claim political credit for them?
Cutting a ribbon does not change the approval date, the history of a project, or the people and institutions who worked to bring it to the ground.
The relevant people know these facts very well. Yet instead of putting the complete facts before the public, a political narrative is being created. The people of Lolab should not be misled. They deserve to know when the work was initiated, who pursued it, when it was approved and who actually worked to bring it forward.
Nabi further said that the MLA must also give a clear answer regarding the Lolab-Bandipora Road. What is his position on this important connectivity project? What concrete steps has he taken for its progress? If there are obstacles, what exactly are they, where do they exist, and what efforts have been made to remove them?
“If the MLA claims credit for development, then let the complete record speak. Let the DPR, approval dates, departmental records and project history be placed before the people. The people of Lolab are capable of understanding the difference between development work and political publicity,” Nabi said.
He also highlighted the efforts of Er. Rashid in raising road connectivity and development issues through institutional channels, saying that such efforts cannot simply be erased from the public record.
“Real political service is not about standing with scissors at the final ceremony. It is about raising people's demands, pursuing projects, securing approvals and continuously following the matter until development reaches the ground,” Nabi said.
Lolab does not need political photo opportunities. Lolab needs roads, connectivity, healthcare, employment and genuine development.
Ribbon-cutting is easy. Getting projects approved, following them through and delivering them to the people is the real test of accountability.
Aabid nab said the people of Lolab should not be expected to accept political claims without asking basic questions about the origin, approval and implementation of development projects.
Lolab wants facts, not slogans.
Lolab wants development, not credit politics.
Lolab wants accountability, not political publicity.
Development has a history, a record and a process. No ribbon-cutting ceremony can rewrite it.
