It was a great experience and an enriching exposure to visit SMVDIME, Kakrayal, Katra. During the visit, we had the honour of calling on Respected Dr. Yashpal Sharma Sir, Executive, SMVDIME Kakrayal, Katra and Former National President, AHA India.
The visit was also accompanied by Sh. Mubarak Bhatt (Lala Bhatt), Former Mass Media Officer and Corporator, Municipal Council Shopian, presently Administrator (News Portal Head – Health News), and Mr. Abdul Rashid Rishi, State Trainer, NHM J&K.
Based on their personal visit and feedback, both expressed that SMVDIME Kakrayal, Katra (Medical College & Associated Hospital) is among the best institutions they have seen and visited over the last two decades in Jammu & Kashmir and beyond.

J&K POLICE IN SHOPIAN DETAIN THREE OGWs UNDER PSA; SHIFTED TO CENTRAL JAIL KOT BHALWAL, JAMMU

As part of its sustained efforts to maintain peace and security, Shopian Police has detained three Over Ground Workers (OGWs) under the provisions of the Public Safety Act (PSA). The detained individuals have been identified as Owais Ahmad Lone of Sedow, Mashooq Ahmad Shah of Shahlatoo, and Subzar Ahmad Gani of Check Choland, all residents of Shopian.
The detenues were found repeatedly involved in activities prejudicial to the security of the State. Despite preventive actions and proceedings initiated against them under Sections 170/126 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), they continued to indulge in unlawful activities, thereby posing a serious threat to peace and security in the district.
Considering their continued involvement in such activities, detention orders were obtained from the District Magistrate, Shopian, after completion of all legal formalities. Subsequently, the detenues were taken into custody and lodged at Central Jail Kot Bhalwal, Jammu.
Shopian Police reiterates its commitment to safeguarding peace and security and will continue to take firm action against elements inimical to the security of the State strictly in accordance with law.

BARAMULLA, Defying the intense cold amid snowfall, a large number of people converged in north Kashmir’s Baramulla on Sunday for a massive political convention addressed by senior leader Touseef Raina.

Hundreds braved inclement conditions, traveling from across the constituency to the Dak Bungalow venue, in a display of support that organizers called a spontaneous show of faith. The gathering included prominent citizens, youth leaders, senior figures, and grassroots workers.

*ACTION AGAINST ILLEGAL MINING: SHOPIAN POLICE SEIZE THREE TRACTORS, ONE TIPPER AND TWO JCBs; FIVE FIRs

As part of its sustained and intensified drive against illegal mining activities, Shopian Police have seized three tractors, one tipper and two JCB machines involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from various locations across the district.

The action was taken during routine patrolling and enforcement drives, resulting in the registration of the following cases:
1. FIR No. 68/2025, Police Station Heerpora – One tractor seized
2. FIR No. 41/2025, Police Station Imamsahib – One tractor seized
3. FIR No. 50/2025, Police Station Keller One JCB seized
4. FIR No. 69/2025, Police Station Heerpora – One tractor seized
5. FIR No. 267/2025, Police Station Shopian – One tipper and one JCB seized.

All the seized vehicles were found involved in illegal mining activities without valid permission or royalty documents. Investigations in all the cases are underway.

Shopian Police reaffirm their firm commitment to safeguarding the district’s natural resources and ensuring strict legal action against those involved in illegal mining. The general public is urged to cooperate with the police by reporting such unlawful activities. The identity of informants will be kept strictly confidential and stringent action shall be taken against violators as per law.

*SHOPIAN POLICE OBSERVE CONSTITUTION DAY ACROSS DISTRICT SHOPIAN*

Shopian Police observed Constitution Day (Samvidhan Diwas) with utmost solemnity and dedication across all police establishments of District Police Shopian. The event marked the commemoration of the adoption of the Constitution of India and reaffirmed the commitment of police personnel to uphold its core values.

At District Police Lines (DPL) Shopian, Addl. SP Shopian, Sh. Rameez Rashid Bhat-JKPS, administered the Oath of the Preamble of the Constitution of India to all officers and officials, who collectively reiterated their resolve to uphold the principles of Justice, Liberty, Equality and Fraternity.

As part of the observance, similar oath ceremonies were conducted at all Police Stations and Police Posts across the district, where respective jurisdictional officers led their personnel in reading the Preamble.

Officers highlighted the significance of the Constitution as the guiding framework of the nation and emphasized the responsibility of J&K Police in safeguarding constitutional rights, ensuring transparent policing and promoting national unity and integrity. They urged all personnel to continue serving the public with honesty, impartiality and professionalism in alignment with constitutional values.

*TRIBAL YOUTH CRICKET TOURNAMENT ORGANISED BY SHOPIAN POLICE CONCLUDED SUCCESSFULLY*

Under the aegis of the Civic Action Programme (CAP), Shopian Police organised a Cricket Tournament for Tribal Youth at Chotipora Heerpora. The tournament, which commenced on 15th November 2025, concluded today with a colorful closing ceremony.

The tournament was inaugurated by SSP Shopian, Sh. Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary-JKPS. The final match was played between Mughal Worries Heerpora and Devpora Stars with Mughal Worries Heerpora emerging victorious by 15 runs. During the final match ceremony, SSP Shopian distributed cash prizes and trophies among the winners and runners-up.

The event was attended by Addl.SP Shopian, DySP Hqrs Shopian, DySP DAR Shopian, SHO PS Heerpora along with a large number of spectators and sports enthusiasts from the district and nearby areas. The participants were encouraged and assured that shopian police is always ready to offer any kind of help they need and also such events will be organised in future also.

In a major stride towards eliminating drug trafficking and strengthening public safety, Shopian Police have booked a notorious and habitual drug peddler namely Mohd Shafi Sheikh resident of Gadapora Shopian, under the provisions of the Prevention of Illicit Traffic in Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (PIT NDPS) Act, 1988.
