Shopian Police Book Notorious Thief Under PSA, Lodged him in Udhampur Jail
In a firm and lawful action to curb habitual criminal activity, Shopian Police have detained a notorious thief and molester, Waseem Ahmad Wani, son of Abdul Aziz Wani, resident of Ganowpora, under the provisions of the Public Safety Act (PSA). The accused has been shifted to Udhampur Jail following the issuance of detention orders by the competent authority.
Police Station Shopian, in close coordination with Police Post Keegam, and under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Shopian, Shri Imtiyaz Ahmad Mir (JKPS), played a pivotal role in preparing and executing the PSA warrant against the individual. A comprehensive dossier was compiled, detailing his repeated involvement in criminal activities.
The individual is a repeat offender, involved in eight (08) FIRs registered across various police stations. His criminal history includes theft, house trespass, and serious offences against women, posing a persistent threat to public peace and community safety.
Senior Superintendent of Police Shopian, Shri Anayat Ali Chowdhary (IPS), has reaffirmed that Shopian Police remains steadfast in its commitment to maintaining public order and ensuring the safety and dignity of all citizens. The department will continue to take firm and lawful action against habitual offenders and all those who pose a threat to peace and stability in the district.
