Nepal's government has moved to block access to Facebook, X (formerly Twitter), YouTube, and approximately two dozen other social media platforms for failing to register under the new national regulations. This sweeping action prompted a swift crackdown under a Supreme Court directive, leaving Nepalese users cut off mid-week. In response, thousands of Gen-Z protesters flooded the streets of Kathmandu, clashing with police near Parliament. The confrontation turned deadly in parts, with nine protesters killed and over 42 injured, according to official reports. Authorities imposed a curfew in key areas, and the ban has sparked widespread international concern about freedom of expression and digital rights in Nepal.

A massive landslide and flash floods near the Vaishno Devi shrine in Jammu & Kashmir killed at least 30 people, mostly pilgrims and locals, after torrential monsoon rains triggered overflowing rivers and collapsing slopes along the pilgrimage route at Adhkwari in Reasi district. The disaster occurred as heavy rainfall exceeding 350 mm destabilized the terrain, forcing authorities to suspend the yatra, shut schools, cancel trains, and launch rescue operations involving NDRF, SDRF, Army, and local officials, who are working under extremely difficult conditions due to damaged infrastructure and snapped communication lines
