Council,22nd Meeting -63rd Session of Human Rights
Council. Tasleema Akhter Chairperson ATVK Represented
India, Jammu and Kashmir at the United Nations General
Assembly UNHRC Geneva Switzerland.

A Comparison of situation and development between PoJK
_and Jammu & Kashmir
Mr. President,
Human Rights in present era create inclusive development of
individual and society and nation as a whole, brings in more
democratic values and offer protection of basic necessities
of life.
I wish to highlight the contrast between Pakistan-occupied
Jammu and Kashmir (POJK) and Jammu and Kashmir in
India has become increasingly pronounced Pakistan-
occupied Jammu and Kashmir has recently witnessed
sustained peaceful protests led by the Joint Awami Action
Committee and other civil society groups over governance
and economic issues.
The brutal crackdown by Pakistan government that followed
resulted in the arrest of hundreds o activists and supporters
detention of key leaders, internet shutdown and violent
clashes that claimed dozens of lives, underscoring continuing
political instability and public discontent.
There is a lack of civic space in PoJK besides cases of large
scale reprisals, which require to be addressed. The ongoing
killing of innocent civilians by Pakistani Security Forces in
PoJK needs to be stopped at once with immediate protective
measures. Restoration of the civic space and
communications needs to be done with immediate
intervention through UNHRC. There should be independent
inquiries into each killing with free and fair access to
information related to all cases.
In contrast, Jammu and Kashmir in India has advanced
through skill development since 2024, generating
employment and boosting local businesses. Smart City
initiatives, rural infrastructure have further strengthened
development.

We Tech International School Wagoora Clinches Boys’ Title; Budding Bloom Experimental School Wins Girls’ Championship

Baramulla, September 26: The District Baramulla Pittu Association (DBPA) organised the 2nd District Pittu Championship from September 24 to 26 at Budding Bloom Experimental School, Khawaja Bagh, Baramulla, bringing together 96 young athletes and 16 teams for three days of competitive sporting action.
Organised in collaboration with the Pittu Association of J&K and Gaash Academy Baramulla, and proudly sponsored by Modern Sweet Baramulla, the championship featured 48 boys and 48 girls, with eight teams competing in each category.
The event provided a structured platform for young players to compete, gain match experience and develop the qualities associated with sport, including discipline, agility, coordination, teamwork and competitive spirit. The participation of schools and a local club also reflected the growing interest in Pittu among young players in the district.
The championship was attended by Lt Col Angad Anthony Malik as Chief Guest and Mohammad Iqbal Lone, Chairman, Budding Bloom Experimental School, Baramulla, as Second Chief Guest. Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo, Vice Principal, Government Degree College Baramulla; Abdul Baseer, Principal, Budding Bloom Experimental School; and Sheikh Mudasir, Founder, Gaash Academy Baramulla, attended as Guests of Honour.
Lt Col Angad Anthony Malik appreciated the initiative of the District Baramulla Pittu Association in providing young athletes with an organised competitive platform. He highlighted the contribution of sporting activities towards developing physical fitness, discipline, teamwork, resilience and confidence among young people.
Tariq Ahmad Chalkoo commended the DBPA for bringing students and young players together through a structured championship. He emphasised that regular participation in competitive sport gives students valuable exposure while helping them develop confidence, leadership qualities, discipline and a healthy competitive outlook.
Abdul Baseer, Principal of Budding Bloom Experimental School, appreciated the organisers for promoting sports at the grassroots and for choosing the institution as the venue for the championship. He stressed the importance of sports alongside academics and appreciated the participating teams, officials and organisers for maintaining a disciplined sporting environment.
The competition produced strong performances in both categories.
In the boys’ category, We Tech International School, Wagoora, emerged as the champions, lifting the winners’ trophy, while Smart School System, Sopore, finished as runners-up.

For young players, such championships provide an opportunity not only to compete for titles but also to gain match exposure, learn from competition and develop the discipline required to progress in sport.
The organisers said the DBPA would continue working towards creating more opportunities for young athletes and strengthening Pittu at the grassroots level through greater participation of schools, clubs and sporting institutions.
The successful conclusion of the three-day championship marked another step towards building a stronger sporting culture in Baramulla, while giving young athletes a platform to compete, learn and aspire to higher levels of the game.
