During routine patrolling and naka checking at Batergam near the Radio Station, a Police team from Police Station Kupwara intercepted a suspicious vehicle (Hyundai i10 Sports, registration number JK15A-6188) moving from Batergam towards Kupwara. The driver attempted to flee but was tactfully apprehended by the alert police personnel.

On spot verification, the driver was identified as Afaq Mohiuddin Bhat S/O Gh. Mohiuddin Bhat, resident of Aloosa Bandipore, while the lady accompanying him disclosed her identity as Muneeba Begum W/O Mehrajudin Bhat, resident of Aloosa Bandipore.

During checking, police recovered heroin-like substance from the possession of the lady passenger.

In this connection, FIR No. 261/2025 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Kupwara and further investigation has been initiated.

Kupwara Police remains committed to its drive against the menace of drugs and appeals to the general public for cooperation.

Pulwama Authorities Seize 71 Vehicles in Illegal Sand Mining Crackdown

Pulwama, Aug 14: In a major action against illegal mining, the District Mineral Office (DMO) Pulwama seized approximately 70 tippers loaded with ordinary sand and one dumper in Zadoora and Newa areas of the district.

According to officials, a penalty amounting to ₹1.50 lakh was imposed and fully recovered from those involved in the violations. The operation was carried out under the supervision of DMO Pulwama, Dr. Khurshid Dar, as part of the ongoing drive to curb illegal extraction of minerals.

The district administration has reiterated its commitment to act strictly against violators and urged the public to refrain from engaging in unlawful mining activities that cause environmental damage.

*Police apprehends 04 persons in Awantipora for transportation of Saffron seed outside UT J&K*

*August 13:* ```Police in Awantipora apprehended four persons for transportation of Saffron seed outside UT of J&K.

Acting on a specific information regarding transportation of saffron seed (Saffron corms) to outside UT of Jammu and Kashmir, a specific naka was established by Police party headed by SHO PS Awantipora along with IC PP Toll Plaza apprehended 04 person identified as Ashok Kumar son of Roshan Lal resident of Sonipat, Haryana, Prem Singh son of Ram Ji Lal resident of Goyal Vihar, Delhi, Gulzar Ahmad Khan son of Ab. Rehman Khan resident of Seer Mattan and Ahmad Din Choudhary son of Mohd Albar Choudhary resident of Gujar Nagar Jammu.

The arrested persons were travelling in a vehicle Swift bearing registration number JK02DG-5090 which was signalled to stop and during search, officers were able to recover 04 bags of Saffron seeds weighing approx. 150 Kgs from their possession. The recovered saffron seeds were handed over to the Agriculture Department for further necessary action.

It is pertinent to mention here that transportation of saffron seeds outside the Union Territory of Jammu & Kashmir is prohibited under law.

Further proceeding will be carried out by Agriculture Department under Saffron Act.```

In a decisive move against anti-national activities, Bandipora Police have attached immovable property land measuring 02 Kanals & 12 Marlas worth over ₹2.11 crores.At Watapora land measuring 01 Kanal & 09 Marlas belonging to Ishfaq Ahmad Bhat S/o Gh Hassan Bhat R/o Watapora under Survey No.271,696,707,710,738,753,1064,1689,742,1055, vide Mutation No.1244.The action was carried out under the provisions of law in connection with FIR No. 33/2022, registered at Police Station Bandipora under sections 121 IPC, 18, 20 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA),2/3 E&IMCO Act.

Similarly land measuring 01 Kanal & 0.5 Marlas under Survey No.121,122 located at Village Chandaji Bandipora belonging to Jameel Ahmad Khan S/o Jogi Khan R/o Chandaji Bandipora has been attached in connection with FIR No. 33/2022, registered at Police Station Bandipora under sections 121 IPC, 18, 20 and 39 of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA),2/3 E&IMCO Act.

Moreover land measuring 02 Marlas under Survey No.2954 located at Village Aloosa Bandipora belonging to Manzoor Ahmad Dar S/o Ali Mohmad Dar has been attached in connection with with Case Fir No.33/2022 of PS Bandipora under Section 121 IPC and 18,20,39 UAPA Act.

The property has been identified as proceeds of terrorism, linked to alleged involvement in facilitating and promoting terrorist activities in the district.
