Budgam Police reveals full particulars of accused in Galwanpora murder case after completion of necessary legal formalities

Budgam, May 26:

In continuation of the investigation into FIR No. 139/2026 of Police Station Budgam pertaining to the murder of a minor girl from village Galwanpora, Budgam Police has completed the initial medico-legal, forensic, and evidentiary procedures connected with the arrest of the accused in the case.

The identity and particulars of the accused were not disclosed earlier as several crucial legal procedures were underway at the initial stage of investigation and to avoid any prejudice to the evidentiary and legal process.

Upon completion of the requisite formalities, the particulars of the accused involved in the commission of the crime are hereby disclosed as:

Mudasir Ahmad Mir S/o Ghulam Nabi Mir, R/o Galwanpora Sebdan, Budgam.

The investigation conducted so far has established that no other individual is involved in the commission of the crime.

Budgam Police appeals to the public to maintain peace, communal harmony, and public order and to cooperate with the investigating agencies. Citizens are advised not to take the law into their own hands and not to circulate rumours, speculative content, or unverified allegations regarding the case failing which strict legal action shall be taken.

Media organisations and social media users are requested to exercise responsibility and restraint while reporting or commenting on the matter. The circulation of unverified or misleading content may create unnecessary public anxiety and adversely affect the maintenance of law and order.

Budgam Police further reiterates that any attempt to spread misinformation, incite unrest, or disturb public order through any platform shall be dealt with strictly in accordance with law.

In a post on X, the Lieutenant Governor has said: "The nation stands united in applauding extraordinary bravery of disaster response teams, who safely rescued 300 tourists stranded mid-air in Gulmarg’s cable cars. Army, JKP, SDRF, NDRF, DC, SSPs moved promptly & after a 6-hour operation, rescued all passengers from 65 cable cars.

All tourists are safe. I spoke with senior officials and directed them to ensure every necessary support is provided. The nation salutes the disaster response forces, Army, JKP and district administration for their valor and remarkable skill."

Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi reviews Muharram Preparedness
Hon’ble MLA Budgam Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi took meeting regarding the arrangements for the holy month of Muharram, MLA Budgam Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi stressed the need for ensuring all necessary facilities and developmental works in areas well in time.
He emphasized that the administration must take all required measures not only for the first ten days of Muharram, but also for those areas where mourning processions and religious gatherings continue after the 10th of Muharram.
The MLA stated that there should be no inconvenience faced by the public during the holy days and directed the concerned departments to work in close coordination to ensure uninterrupted essential services. He called for timely completion of all pending developmental works, proper sanitation, availability of drinking water, electricity, medical facilities, traffic management, and road maintenance in all concerned areas.
Aga Syed Muntazir Mehdi further said that Muharram is a period of great religious significance and the administration must ensure that devotees and mourners are provided every possible support and facility. He urged all departments to remain active on the ground and respond promptly to public issues and grievances.
He also appealed to the public to maintain peace, discipline, and communal harmony during the observance of Muharram.

I am deeply shocked and heartbroken by the horrific murder of a 12-year-old girl, a student of Class 5, who was missing on 23rd May evening and her body was recovered today morning.
She left home for the Maktab but never reached there. This senseless and inhuman act has left the entire district of Budgam in grief and anguish.

On behalf of the people of Budgam, I extend my deepest condolences to the bereaved family. No words can adequately express the pain and suffering they are enduring. We stand firmly with them in this hour of immense sorrow and pray for strength and patience for the family to bear this irreparable loss.

The people of Budgam are united in condemning this barbaric crime. Such acts have no place in our society and strike at the very fabric of humanity and our shared values. The loss of an innocent child is a tragedy that affects every household and every conscience.

I have full faith in the professionalism and capabilities of the Budgam Police . I am confident that a thorough investigation will be conducted and that those responsible for this heinous crime will be identified and brought to justice at the earliest.
