Duplicate Paneer Racket Busted in Jammu; 800 Kg Seized, Three Detained

Jammu, JULY 25

In a significant operation aimed at safeguarding public health, the Jammu Police have unearthed a major racket involving the transportation of suspected fake paneer. The operation was carried out by Police Station Bagh-e-Bahu, leading to the recovery of nearly 800 kilograms of suspected adulterated paneer from a bus that was on its way from Delhi to Katra.

Acting on specific intelligence, a police team from Bagh-e-Bahu, under the close supervision of senior officers including the SDPO East, SP South, and SSP Jammu, intercepted a bus bearing registration number AP-20B-0888 at the Bravo-03 checkpoint. The vehicle was being driven by Abdul Ahad, a resident of Loran Kharpa in Poonch district.

During the interception, two other individuals—Arif Hussain, a resident of Malik Market, and Mysir Bhat from Magam Kokernag, Anantnag—were caught unloading the consignment into two separate auto-rickshaws (JK02DG-1890 and JK02CN-2757) for distribution across various parts of Jammu.

Initial investigation revealed that the consignment was linked to Mohd Iqbal of Takia Kokernag and Manzoor Ahmad Sardan, also from Kokernag, who are currently residing near the Bus Stand in Jammu.

Officials from the Food Safety Department were promptly informed and samples of the suspected paneer were collected for laboratory testing. Further inquiry is in progress to identify the entire network involved in the illegal production and supply of the product.

Jammu Police have reaffirmed their commitment to public safety and have urged residents to stay alert and immediately report any suspicious activities that could endanger health or wellbeing.
