BJP J&K suspends Er. Syed Showkat Gayoor Andrabi, District President, Pulwama, with immediate effect.

In view of the FIR alleging extortion registered against him, disciplinary proceedings have been initiated. Pending finalisation of the proceedings, he has been suspended from all organisational posts and responsibilities of the Bharatiya Janata Party, including the post of District President, Pulwama.

The party reiterates its commitment to maintaining the highest standards of discipline, integrity and morality in public life.

//: A bike rider, Rayees Ahmad Gadda of Marhama, Sangam, was killed while four others were injured in a road accident near the stone quarry at Achabal. The injured were shifted to GMC Anantnag for treatment. Police have started an investigation.

Foundation stone of Masjid Buqai-e-Sidique was laid at Dangerpora in Anantnag on Tuesday by renowned Islamic preachers.

The event was attended by elderly people, children, men and women, as well as Ulma and Islamic scholars from different schools of thought.

The Masjid Committee, Buqai-e-Sidique, has appealed to the public to generously contribute towards the construction of the mosque. The bank account details for donations have been provided in the video.

South Kashmir Sumo Transport Association held its body elections in Anantnag, with ARTO Anantnag Mr. Iqbal Diang, MVD Inspector Mr. Manzoor Qureshi, and transporters from across South Kashmir participating in the election process.

All seven candidates were elected unopposed, with Mohd Ashraf Reshi elected as Chairman, Abid Ali Deen as President, Bilal Ahmad Dar as Vice President, Shabir Ahmad Ganie as General Secretary, Syed Muzamil as Publicity Secretary, Abdul Haq as Cashier, and Shahid Ahmad Sofi as Organiser. (KF)

16-Year-Old Dies After Drowning in Lidder River in Anantnag, Body Retrieved

Anantnag, Aug 09 (KF): A 16-year-old boy lost his life after drowning in the Lidder River at Dar Mohalla, Chee area of Anantnag district on Sunday. His body was later recovered by a team of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) with assistance from local residents.

The deceased has been identified as Barik Bilal, son of Bilal Ahmed Sofi, a resident of Laram Ganjipora, Anantnag, officials said.

According to officials, a search and rescue operation was launched after information about the drowning incident was received. After sustained efforts, the SDRF team, along with local residents, managed to retrieve the boy’s body from the river.

The body was subsequently handed over to the local police for completion of the necessary legal formalities. (KF)
