During the drive, Secretary MCA Umer Assad and Khilafwarzi Officer, Abid Afzal warned all encroachers to refrain from occupying footpaths and roads, emphasizing that strict action will be taken against those found violating the norms.

Anantnag Police Nab Seven Gamblers, Recover ₹62,200 Stake Money in Papibal Raid

Anantnag, Oct 13 (KF): Acting swiftly on credible information, Anantnag Police on Sunday apprehended seven gamblers during a raid conducted at Papibal and recovered stake money amounting to ₹62,200 along with playing cards from the spot.

The operation was carried out by SHO Police Station Anantnag along with his team, successfully curbing illegal gambling activities in the area.

The arrested individuals have been identified as:

1. Shabir Ahmad Pusshu, S/O Gh. Rasool Pusshu, R/O Reshi Colony, Anantnag

2. Mohd. Altaf Zargar, S/O Ab. Razaq Zargar, R/O Papyibal, Anantnag

3. Mushtaq Ahmad Wani, S/O Mohd. Afzal Wani, R/O Monghal, Anantnag

4. Manzoor Ahmad Bhat, S/O Gh. Hassan Bhat, R/O Papyibal Ruh, Anantnag

5. Zahoor Ahmad Baba, S/O Gh. Mohd. Baba, R/O Sarnal, Anantnag

6. Mujeeb Ahmad Dar, S/O Gh. Mohd. Dar, R/O Zadipora, Harnag

7. Mohd. Amir Dar, S/O Mohd. Yousuf Dar, R/O Harnag

Accordingly, a case FIR No. 192/2025 has been registered under the relevant provisions of law at Police Station Anantnag, and investigation has been taken up.

Police have urged the public to cooperate in curbing social evils and report such illegal activities promptly to ensure a crime-free society. (KF)

A man identified as Ashiq Hussain Malik, son of Ghulam Hassan Malik and a resident of Sadura, allegedly ended his life by hanging himself at his residence in the Sadura area of Anantnag district on Thursday evening.

Sources said he was found hanging at his home, prompting immediate action by the police.

Police reached the spot and shifted the body to a medical facility for medico-legal formalities. The authorities have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Three Inspectors Transferred, Posted as SHOs in Anantnag

Anantnag, Oct 08 (KF): The District Police Headquarters Anantnag has issued an adjustment and transfer order for three police inspectors, assigning them as Station House Officers (SHOs) at different police stations across the district.

According to Order No. 1057 of 2025 dated October 08, 2025, issued by the Senior Superintendent of Police, Anantnag, the following officers have been posted to their new assignments:

1. Insp. Parvaze Ahmad (PID No. EXK001279) has been posted as SHO P/S Pahalgam.

2. Insp. Gh Jeelani (PID No. ARP109258) has been posted as SHO P/S Aishmuqam.

3. Insp. Peer Gulzar Ahmad (PID No. ARP046123) has been posted as SHO P/S Mattan.

The officers had earlier been transferred from the districts of Kulgam and Shopian to Anantnag and subsequently joined at District Police Lines (DPL) Anantnag.

The order, which has been issued with immediate effect, directs that the officers be relieved forthwith to assume their new responsibilities. (KF)

As part of its continued measures to strengthen internal security and curb the misuse of mobile communication services, Anantnag Police on Thursday carried out extensive inspections of SIM card vendors across all police station jurisdictions in the district.

D.O Nisar Ahmad from Police Post Janglatmandi conducted surprise checks at various outlets to verify compliance with KYC guidelines, proper authentication of identity and address proofs, and strict observance of protocols to prevent the unauthorized issuance of SIM cards that could potentially be used for illegal or anti-national purposes.

| Municipal Council Anantnag on Waterlogging Situation

Secretary Municipal Council Anantnag (MCA), Umer Asad, while speaking to Kashmir First, assured the public that there is no need to worry about waterlogging on roads and drainage systems in Anantnag town.

He said that the Deputy Commissioner Anantnag has taken immediate stock of the situation, and the MCA teams are working round the clock (24×7) with full manpower and machinery to ensure swift dewatering and restoration of normalcy.
