A 14-year-old boy, who was missing from Doru area of south Kashmir’s Anantnag district, was found dead on Monday after his body was recovered from Nallah Brangi at Zaldora.

The Deceased has been identified as Uzair Ahmad Reshi, son of Farooq Ahmad Reshi, a resident of Zaldora Doru and a student by profession.

They said the boy had gone missing late last night, following which searches were launched. Today, his body was recovered from Nallah Brangi at Zaldora.

A police team has reached the spot and initiated necessary proceedings in the matter.

Further investigation is underway...

Anantnag Police Arrest Drug Peddler, Seize 1.442 Kg G***a in Larnoo; FIR Registered

Anantnag, May 11: In continuation of its sustained efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from society, Anantnag Police achieved another success by apprehending a drug peddler and recovering a contraband substance from his possession.

A police party from Police Station Larnoo, while conducting evening patrolling in the Sirgan-Hallan crossing area, intercepted a suspicious person. Upon checking, the individual, identified as Jahangir Ahmad Khan, son of Mohammad Maqbool Khan and a resident of Hallan Nowbugh, was found in possession of a contraband substance suspected to be cannabis (g***a), concealed in a nylon bag.

During the search, approximately 1.442 kilograms of the contraband substance in crushed form was recovered and seized as per legal procedures.

In this regard, a case vide FIR No. 26/2026 under relevant sections of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act has been registered at Police Station Larnoo, and further investigation has been taken up.

Anantnag Police remains committed to its mission of making society drug-free and urges the general public to share any information related to drug trafficking or other criminal activities with the nearest police establishment.

A fire broke out at a kabadi (scrap) shop in the Mirbazar area of Kulgam district on Sunday, triggering panic in the locality.

Officials said that police teams immediately rushed to the spot soon after the incident was reported, while fire tenders were pressed into service to control the blaze.

Efforts were on to douse the flames when the last reports came in. The cause of the fire was not immediately known.

Scores of Youth from Yaal Shumhaal Join JKNC in Pahalgam

Srinagar, May 8 (KF): In a significant political development, a large number of youth from Yaal Shumhaal in the Pahalgam constituency joined the Jammu and Kashmir National Conference (JKNC) on Thursday.

The joining programme was held in the presence of senior party leaders, including Hon’ble MLA Pahalgam Altaf Ahmad Wani Kaloo, District President JKNC Pahalgam, Vice President JKNC Ang Syed Saba, District President Youth JKYNC Anantnag Imran Bashir, Senior Vice President JKYNC Anantnag Suhaib Shabir, and Joint Secretary Youth Adil Ah.

Party leaders welcomed the new entrants into the party fold and expressed confidence that the youth would play a vital role in strengthening the organisation at the grassroots level.

Traffic Advisory Issued for Mega Anti-Drug Rally in Anantnag on May 9

Srinagar, May 8 (KF): The Traffic Police Rural Kashmir on Thursday issued a traffic advisory in view of the mega rally (Padh Yatra) being organised in Anantnag town on May 9, 2026, as part of the ongoing “Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyaan.”

According to the advisory, vehicular movement on several key routes in Anantnag town shall remain completely suspended from 7:00 AM to 2:00 PM during the event.

The affected routes include General Bus Stand Anantnag to Batengoo Fruit Mandi Crossing, Mehndikadal to K.P Chowk, and Railway Station Crossing Wanpoh to Khanabal Crossing.

Authorities have advised commuters to avoid travel on these roads during the scheduled hours to prevent inconvenience.

To ensure smooth movement of traffic, the Traffic Police has also announced diversion plans. Traffic bound for Pahalgam from Srinagar and Jammu will be diverted from Doonipora Crossing via Padshahi Bagh Bridge, Apple Valley-Srigufwara Road, and Langanbal Diversion Point towards Pahalgam.

Similarly, traffic coming from Pahalgam towards Srinagar or Jammu will be diverted from Langanbal Diversion Point via Apple Valley-Srigufwara Road, Padshahibagh Bridge, Bijbehara Market, and Doonipora Crossing towards NH-44.

The advisory was issued by the office of the Senior Superintendent of Police, Traffic Rural Kashmir, in public interest for information and compliance. (KF)

Anti-Drug Rally Held in Anantnag, School Students Show Strong Enthusiasm

Anantnag, May 06 (KF): Under the anti-drug campaign launched by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, a significant rally was organized in Anantnag to raise awareness against drug abuse.
