Passenger vehicles are currently allowed to ply from both directions on the Mughal Road.

Traffic on the SSG Road from Kargil towards Srinagar

Traffic will be permitted on the Sinthan Road only after clearance from NHIDCL.

Commuters are strongly advised to maintain proper lane discipline. Overtaking and driving in the wrong lane will lead to traffic congestion.

NH-44 remains closed. However, restoration work is underway on a war footing.

Sinthan Road and the Bhaderwah–Chamba Road continue to remain closed.

TRAFFIC POLICE HEADQUARTERS, J&K, JAMMU/SRINAGAR

From 04-03-2025,1700 hrs.to 05-03-2025,1700 hrs., there was slow movement observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of 02 HMVs, single lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, between Marog and Kishtwari Pather and due to four lane construction work.

2.Passengers/LMVs operators are advised to undertake journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during day time as there is apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.

3.Goods carrier (HMV/LMV) Operators carrying fresh perishable/live stock are advised to load their vehicle as per advisory issued by Traffic Police Headquarters time to time as there is single lane traffic and poor condition of road at Dalwas, Mehad and between Marog & Kishtwari Pather on Jammu Srinagar NHW.

4.HMVs Operators/Owners are requested to desist from overloading and carry sufficient fuel during journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. It is further requested that vehicle owners must double check the fitness of their vehicles and carry sufficient fuel before undertaking journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW.

5.HMVs with only 06 and 10 tyres shall be allowed to ply through Dhar road.

6.Commuters are advised to avoid unnecessary haltage between Ramban and Banihal especially near landslide/shooting stone area.

Subject to fair weather and better road conditions LMVs Passenger/Private Cars shall be allowed from both sides on Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44) viz from Jammu towards Srinagar and vice-versa. However, HMVs (Load carrier) shall be allowed from Jakheni (Udhampur) towards Srinagar after assessing the road condition. TCU Jammu/Srinagar shall liaise with TCU Ramban for road condition. Commuters are requested to check NH 44 status at J&K Traffic Police Twitter handle and face book page.

SFs Convoy Movement:-

Security Forces are advised/requested not to ply against advisory/traffic plan in view of possible traffic congestion because of narrow carriage way between Nashree and Banihal on Jammu-Srinagar NHW. Tomorrow they may ply from Jammu towards Srinagar after confirming the status of NHW from TCU Ramban.

Kishtwar- Sinthan- Anantnag NH-244:-

Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag road is closed for vehicular movement as per Sub-Divisional Magistrate Kokernag's advisory endstt. no. SDM/KNG/2024-25/3139-45 dated 16-01-2025 .

Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari road is still closed due to snow accumulation.

Mughal Road:-

Mughal Road is closed for vehicular movement as per District Magistrate Poonch's order endstt. no. DMP/JC/7273-92 dated 18-01-2025 in view of snow accumulation.

1.From 03-03-2025,1700 hrs.to 04-03-2025,1700 hrs., Jammu-Srinagar NHW remained blocked for 15 hrs due to landslide at Mehad, Ramban. Slow movement was observed on NH-44 due to breakdown of HMVs, single lane traffic at Dalwas, Mehad, between Marog and Kishtwari Pather and due to four lane construction work.

2.SSP Traffic UT Ladakh has issued a public Notice vide No. THQ/Road-Safety/Advisory/2025/54-67 that in view of inclement weather whereby a maintenance work on the Kargil-Srinagar NH (Zojila Pass) shall be carried out by the concerned road maintenance agencies from 11th January to 13th January 2025. As a result traffic will remain suspended from Srinagar towards Kargil and vice-versa w.e.f. 11th January to 13th January 2025.

3.Passengers/LMVs operators are advised to undertake journey on Jammu-Srinagar NHW during day time as there is apprehension of shooting stones between Ramban and Banihal.

Srinagar-Jammu National Highway thrown open, vehicles allowed from both sides

After remaining closed for 2 days, 270-kilometre long Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was thrown open for vehicular traffic on Sunday.

Officials of the Traffic Department told the news agency that passenger vehicles have been allowed to ply on the highway from both sides.

They advised commuters to follow lane discipline, as overtaking could cause congestion. They also urged drivers to exercise caution due to slippery road conditions between Banihal and Qazigund.

"Mughal Road, Sinthan Road, Sonamarg-Kargil Road, and Bhaderwah-Chamba Road remain closed due to snow accumulation," officials added.

Pertinently, the Srinagar-Jammu National Highway was closed for traffic on Friday due to inclement weather conditions and heavy snowfall

Passenger traffic plying on Jamu-Srinagar NHW. Commuters are advised to follow lane discipline, overtaking will cause congestion, drive with caution as the road is slippery between Banihal and Qazigund. Jammu-Srinagar NHW (NH-44)

Jammu-Srinagar NHW closed for vehicular movement due to snow accumulation around the NAVYUG Tunnel. Commuters are advised to avoid journey on NH-44 till the weather is improve and road is clear. Decision regarding the vehicular movement on Jammu Srinagar NHW shall be taken tomorrow after assessment of road conditions and getting green signal from road maintenance agencies.
