Rainfall is likely across parts of the Jammu region today, particularly over the Chenab Valley districts, Udhampur, Jammu, Samba and Kathua. In the Kashmir region, South Kashmir is expected to be the most affected.

Generally, places are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall, while a few locations may experience heavy showers.

Weather activity is expected to continue until the afternoon, after which it should gradually ease. However, scattered showers may persist in some areas till evening.

Note: Intense showers cannot be ruled out. Therefore, the risk of flash floods will continue.

Crucial Weather Update for Jammu & Kashmir

A fresh spell of rain is likely to begin across many parts of Jammu & Kashmir late tonight or during the early hours of tomorrow. The weather system is expected to be most active over Jammu Division and South Kashmir, where rainfall intensity will be higher.

During tomorrow morning and afternoon, South Kashmir is likely to witness moderate to heavy rainfall, with a few intense spells possible. In contrast, Central and North Kashmir are expected to receive light to moderate showers.

The Jhelum River is currently showing a gradual rise in water level. As the fresh spell of rain affects South Kashmir on later night where several tributaries feed into the Jhelum—the river is expected to rise further during the day. Residents living near rivers, streams, and low-lying areas should remain alert and closely monitor official weather and flood updates.
